Why should I chose this product over the ARRIS SURboard model SBG6900-Ac   (7 Answers)

They both seem like great products at basically the same price. What should be my deciding factor overall? In the home, I want to cover about 3500 sq. ft., about 7 Smart devices including tv's but, what about outside the home range? In some cases, 4 devices may be working at the same time, all Samsung.

        Answer

If your provider can push the speed an AC router can provide, you'll get better, stronger, faster connections than with a non AC router -- very useful, especially if you're planning on streaming music, videos, or playing graphically intensive games.

          Answer

You will not have an issue. I live in a 2 story 3500 square foot house and the device is in the front living room. We have full coverage throughout the house and speeds at 5ghz exceeding 200mps. It's a great product.

          range issues ?   (7 Answers)

Does this perform as well as a unit with external antennas? For example the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (R7000) is the same model number, yet this unit has 3 external antennas ... I like the idea of combining modem / router into one unit, but will this provide the same range ?

I had externals on my last router and I have not seen any difference with range.

Can you remove the stand from the bottom?   (10 Answers)

I want to attach this to the back of a TV and I'm wondering if the stand can be removed, so the modem will fit flush (probably using velcro to attach it).

              Answer

Yes the stand can be removed but I would not recommend flush mounting it to a TV as it could overheat without proper ventilation. It gets pretty warm on its own sitting on the stand.

If you mean, will it work with cable bundle voice services through Time Warner, then no it will not (per the specifications on the box). If you simply mean for use with Time Warner Cable internet, then yes it will.

Time Warner cable bundle compatible?   (7 Answers)

I have cable tv, phone and Internet bundled through Time Warner. The 'Product Features' says this is not compatible with TW bundled voice. Does that simply mean I can keep the Internet and tv service but drop their phone line to use this? I am also thinking of using MagicJack with it and stop renting the TW modem/router and stop paying them for what is essentially VOIP phone service. Am I on the right track? Thanks.

                        Answer

I have the pkg with TWC (Internet, cable, phone) to "save" money. Even if you get your own modem (saves > $10/mo.) TWC will have you keep their modem with no monthly lease charge to use the phone service. Don't believe the TWC reps on the phone if they say different (some either legitimately don't know even tho it's clear on their website - or they want to keep you paying the lease). Best to go to a service center for the change. I use Windows 10 with no issues whatsoever. Good luck.
