No. The Nikon D5000 DSLR camera is not compatible with AF-P or E-type lenses. A fully compatible lens type for the Nikon D5000 is an AF-S type lens. AI and AF-type lenses can also be used but must be manually focused as this camera body doesn't have a built-in focus motor.
