I would go with the 5200 and let her grow into it. It is pretty easy to figure out. There are multiple beginner book on this particular camera that are really helpful. She will love the different features of this camera that the 3200 doesn't have.

Please try again later.i imagine this may be too late, but i am hoping you got the 3200. the reason is, people either get into photography or they do not. it is always best to start with the basic and grow into a better model if needed when using and SLR camera. In fact, i would have recommended to this person to get a 3100, which is still available in some places. I always caution people NOT to get hooked in by extra megapixels. 99 percent of people will not tell the difference between 24 MGP and 16 MGP.
