I don't think you'll like the brightness. They get bright, but reflecting off walls makes the light dull or dim. Ok for ambience but that's it really.

Against the wall I don't think it would be enough to read by, but if all you need is ambient light it most certainly would work. Facing out they're much brighter, but (for me anyway) I wouldn't want to have these on display as a sconce-like lighting source or anything like that; they look a lot better as a hidden or obfuscated light source. You didn't ask, but these lights are awesome, by the way. Seriously considering buying another set to replace the blooms I have in another location. :)

I mounted the pair against a wall, ~1 foot from the ceiling, which provides diffused light. They were exactly what I needed to illuminate the sitting area in my living room, versus direct lighting to reflect into your eyes or the tv. After trying track lighting and wall sconces, these were exactly what I needed.

So if you did that, it should be nice.i recommend the extension cord hue has as the cords are only 6 feet (2 meters)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.These are meant for accent lighting. You would need at least another lamp to compliment them. I currently have 3 hue play bars behind my TV as well as 4 hue bulbs in lamps for my medium sized living room.
