These are not encrypted or security drives. You'll need an encryption app to do it. If you use Bitlocker, then you can setup Bitlocker To Go on the drive, but that requires the Professional version of Windows to do that. There are several good and free encryption tools that will encrypt the thumb drive. You can also save the files as a password protected zip file in a pinch.

There is nothing mentioning password protection on the PNY box, so I would say NO. By the way, SanDisk password protection is somewhat cumbersome. You cannot see thumbs of pictures or vides when saved to their 'Vault' for protection, only an itemized numbered list. You have to drag or transfer them to another program, or desktop, to see them. But then again they are protected.

It never ask for a password when i inserted it into a PlayStation. Sorry about I can answer your question as far as a PC or Mac situation because I do not have one right now.
