What is the range of the extender?   (5 Answers)

      Answer

It is tricky. Because it recommends put the device in the middle of your house to extend the wifi to the front door. So I have a large house. Two bedrooms in the back and two bedrooms in the front of the house. The den is in the middle. So with this extension wifi is in the front bedrooms where it was poor is now good. It also depends where you have your router. It recommended to be close to router. I hope it gives you a sense of the range.

My new Ring Video doorbell is at the opposite end of the house than my router. I already have a wi-fi range extender, but I still can only get motion reports ..... but no video. Can I use the Chime Pro AND the Almond extender I already have?   (4 Answers)

I do not know if the two work together. I used the chime pro 1/2 between my router and doorbell and everything works well. Tried the chime pro at several places before finding the optimal spot. I would reset the entire system and see if you can get the video. You may have an issue with the ring doorbell itself.

Hello, The Chime Pro is currently only compatible with the Ring Products as this is done for connection purposes. This will avoid wifi interference and boost the internet connection. Thank you, Kandyce C., Neighbor Satisfaction Manager Kandyce@ring.com

My Wi-Fi signal is good but the video is a bit choppy at times. If I add this Wi-Fi extender, will it produce a better quality recoding?   (2 Answers)

      Answer

The Ring requires 2Mbs of download, so if you do not have that, then you may still have a problem even with the Chime. It will work with less than 2Mbs, but the speed causes a delay in sending the signal for recording. The distance between my front door and the router is on opposite ends of the house, so I needed the Chime to extend the range. The quality of the recording is good with the Chime and without it, I would not have a working system. Besides, I like the chime ring tones. My favorite is the barking dogs.

Do you need these extenders if you are putting a Ring stick-up camera on the outside of the house (cameras will be at two opposite sides of the house; Ring doorbell is at the front of the house; router is in the middle of the house.)   (2 Answers)

Hi Laura, We recommend that your Ring devices are no farther than 30 feet from your router but the closer it is, the better the performance. If they are further than this, a Chime Pro can be useful! Thank you, Kandyce C., Neighbor Satisfaction Manager Kandyce@ring.com

  • Question
Do I have to use this range extender for my Ring doorbell 2 or can I just buy a Netgear extender instead? I am not interested in having the chime for a doorbell. I am happy with my mechanical one.   (3 Answers)

I installed it for my friend. Mechanical bell still works. The chime one is used to alert you when something is in the ring cameras view. Like a warning system. Rings with you bell also. Has more tones you can set. We put it near the front door, set to do barking. Someone will think you have a guard dog! Great feature for when you are not home! Or, on vacation! Scare them, and ring will capture them, & send the image to your cellphone! Worked fine off the WI-FI, didn't need an extender. Move the modem to a better location!

While there are several home security options readily in stock, the best way to know for sure is to look up the inventory online, the info is accurate.
