for me the buffering was not present. It is pretty fast and I like the remote allows me to plug my headphones, our use my phone and send bluetooth signal to my wireless speakers or headphones, I wish this last feature could be done without the phone.
Not having a problem with my Roku ultra so far. I did a reset once when experienced a freeze and working great since. I have to occasionally reboot my router as well to clean it out and initiate update so you may need to do that with the Roku box as well. Also had to do it sometimes to update my old cable box. No buffering problems either. It’s fast! But I also have fiber optic internet.
