Greetings! We are glad to clarify details about the usable space under the ice maker in the freezer compartment of this Samsung refrigerator model. When the ice buckets are removed and the ice maker is disabled, the space can be used for extra space as long as the food will not touch the ice maker as it can damage it when food solidifies/gets frozen. It is not recommended to use the ice buckets for food storage as there is a high risk of frozen food damaging the ice maker when its doors are opened or closed. Leo
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the bottom ice tray can be removed , we had the geek squad turn off the ice line that goes into the drawer but kept the water/ice on
