Yes the GPS feature works without your phone if you go for a walk, job or run. it will still make your rout, steps and total distance.

Apparently it does, just have to sync when you get back and connect with the phone. Unfortunately, I don't run much, so I haven't used this particular function.

Yes it does. I tried running without my phone cuz when i wear loose gear i can feel it jumping. I just turned on my gps from the watch and i kept it connected to my phone and it seemed to work fine.

Yes, when you are within range of you phone again it will link the info to whatever fitness app you have with Samsung. But it does track you without needing your phone.
