Shark single handedly ruined my rugs and carpet and pulled them to pieces. Stay away.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello Fl18, This great vacuum does an amazing job on area rugs. You have the option to turn the brushroll off, as well as it is equipped with a seuction release. This allows you to lower the suction on the vacuum. We hope this information helps. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My Shark quit after 3 months. The company is difficult to deal with and is aware of many issues with their vacuums., (Caveat- I would not recommend this vacuum. ) Before my power supply stopped working I can tell you that this vacuum was inadequate in the bare floor/brushless setting - it tended to send small debris flying across the room; There is a way to regulate the amount of suction, though in the brush roll setting and you can always use the lift away and accessories for the task of area rugs - with the Shark, I was seeing excessive shedding of my carpeting as well...I've had central vac for 20 years until recently moving, though so not sure if all standard vacuums share this problem or not.
