QuestionCan I install my Sonance MAG6R speakers outdoors (patio ceiling location)?
- Answer Hi JAL, Thanks for your question. The MAG6R speakers are not designed to be used in areas that would expose them to excessive heat, cold, water, moisture, etc. Installing the speakers in a place that is open to outside elements could shorten the expected usable life of the speaker, so we do not recommend installing/exposing them to these environments. QuestionWhen hooked up to a Sonos Amp can these speakers use Trurplay?
- Answer Thanks for your question. These speakers will work great with Sonos Amp however, the Trueplay technology is not available on the Sonance MAG6R speakers. QuestionWhat is the difference between these speakers and the speakers that come with Model:MAG5.1R SKU:6196627? Are these speakers MAG6R (front). MAG6R SUR (rears) or a different model? What is the difference between MAG6R front and rears? Can I interchange?
- Answer Hi, Yes, the MAG6R speakers are the same speakers in the MAG5.1R system used for the three front channels. The two rear speakers in the MAG5.1R system are the MAG6R SUR speakers, and the "SUR" stands for surround. These are designed to be used as the rear speakers for the system. The difference between the two models are with the tweeters. The surround speakers have two tweeters that are designed to give you broader coverage for your surround channels. The three front speakers have a single tweeter and are designed for use as Front Left, Front Center, and Front Right. I hope you found this information helpful. QuestionWhat enclosure matches these 6½" speakers? I'm installing these in a celing that has insulation.
- Answer I have installed over 15 pairs of these, no enclosure, no problems, in insulated ceilings, both batt, and blown in.
QuestionCan two of these speakers be wired in parallel on an 8 ohm channel?
- Answer Yes. We are using then that way with a Sonos Amp.
QuestionOn MAG6R, I have blown insulation in my artic . Does this speakers have enclosure of some sort to prevent the installation getting into cracks after installing. And against sound loss
- Answer No it does not. I just pushed my insulation away from the speaker at installation.
QuestionHi, what size and weight is the box that this pair ships in? Or is each speaker shipped in its own individual box?
- Answer I would say the box is about a 12” cube with a pair of speakers in it.
Question@Sonance team, I wasn't able to find this product in your official website (www.sonance.com). Why is that?
- Answer This product is made only for BestBuy/Magnolia, it is a hybrid of a bunch of things that Sonance does and they don't include it as a product in their catalog. Sometimes you find sellers on other sites reselling them, but they just got them for a sale price and then sell them at retail. P.S. - These things are great, I run them in my 7.2/Atmos home theater and they handle action and music very well. Love them. They go on sale for a lot off retail - so watch for them!

QuestionHow many degrees can the woofer and tweeter be angled? I assume the woofer angle will be smaller since the tweeter support may move with the woofer and the tweeter angle will add to the woofer angle. I have a slightly angled ceiling so angle tilt is key.

QuestionCould a SINGLE Sonos Amp power 6 of these speakers (3 pair)? I know 4 of these are no problem.
- Answer Hi, Thanks for your question. I would not recommend running 3 pair of the MAG6R speakers on a single Sonos Amp. The maximum number of speakers the amp can drive at one time would be 2 pair of the MAG6R in-ceiling speakers. I hope you found this information helpful. QuestionAre these compatible with the Sonance medium new construction bracket sold by Best Buy, for roto click installation? I know these don’t require the brackets but my contractor wants to use brackets for rough in. Thank you!

QuestionWill these work for both rear and front in 5.1 surround? They would be paired with Polk S35 center speaker and a TBD sub. Or is there a better option for the rear speakers? I read somewhere that the MAG6R SUR were better for rear speakers.

QuestionDrop ceiling question. I'm adding two speakers to bring my basement home theatre to 7.1 Dolby Atmos. wondering if I need to do anything special for the drop ceiling with these?
- Answer For a drop ceiling I would recommend a safety line to the actual ceiling just in case. Other than that the speaker is not so heavy that you would require a sheet metal bridge support between the t-bar. I have done that back in my commercial install days but those speakers are a little bigger and heavier.
QuestionI have 2 layers of 5/8th drywall on my ceiling making it an 1 1/4 of an inch thick. Would this still work?
- Answer It should be fine. There's plenty of space in the mounting brackets.
