It sure does. I use them all the time when I am flying. As soon as you turn on the noise cancelling feature, you notice a dramatic difference. No more jet hum.

Depends on the plane. Passenger jet, yes some of the ambient lower frequencies in the cabin are muted somewhat, not cancelled though. But for the price, as long as your not in a Cessna, SR 71 or flying with the Blue Angels, its worth the price.

These did not cancel out any of the engine noise.i wish I could return them because they are worthless to me. Sony is usually a name you can count on. Not this time.

It works pretty well. I bought one for a cross-country airplane trip where I was sitting right next to one of the engines on a 737, and it cut the noise down to an acceptable (for me) level but did not block it entirely.

Yes they do. I purchased these Sony headphones exclusively for air travel and I was listening to music and fell asleep. They did the trick for $50!
