only with ps4 games
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The disc based version of thr PS5 is only backwards compatible with certain PS4 games. It will play most of them, but each one will perfotm differently in terms of quality. For example, I have heard that Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is not supported on the new system. Tge game kind of runs, but it has a flickering black bar effect that plagues users as they attempt to play the game. With this said, I would say that about 98% of your PS4 gaming library will likely work properly, though there maybe some exceptions.

You can play both ps3 and ps4 games in the PS now app also. I’m able to install most of my ps4 titles on the ps5 like call of duty modern warfare and the Witcher 3, mgs V the phantom pain and god of war
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No its not backwards compatible. Everyone is wrong. Its able to play a very very few amount of ps4 games. Only the games that were made for both ps4 and ps5 towards the end of ps5 launch about a year ago. And only reason why is because sony didnt have enough ps5 to go around. Not backwatds compatible like xbox series x. Online for both will list what games are. But very few ps4 games for ps5. Not nesr as many as xbox. I still saved my ps4 because of this. Things might change in the future up to sony....
