QuestionI am looking at this item to remove/transfer data from an old computer hard drive to a storage device that I can use/manipulate. Am I looking at the correct item?

- Answer As long as you have a SATA powered SSD, and a USB - Type C, you can use this. It works just like a thumb drive, but you can use it on any SATA SSD. I'm not sure if it will have the power to operate a 3.5 HDD, they take more power to operate than a SSD. You could always get it, try it, and if it doesn't work, return it.

QuestionThe Specifications given by Best Buy say the cable is .15' long, which is less than 2 inches. The picture indicates this can not be the case. What is the length of the cable between the end connectors?

- Answer Total Length is 57mm or 20in. Length of cable between connector housing is 42.9mm or 16 7/8in

- Answer Yes if your new laptop has the USB-C port. It supports 2.5" Sata I, II and III.

- Answer Is it an old floppy drive or one with an updated interface? Historically, floppy drives use and IDE interface, not SATA. So the answer is 'NO', unless you have a newer floppy drive with a SATA interface.

- Answer No. The SATA to USB-C adapter cable has both the SATA and the power adapter portion built into it. Appropriate power is derived from the USB-C connection. If you don't have a USB-C connection then USB 3.0 to SATA adapters are also available.

- Answer Using USB31CSAT3CB to transfer data to an external drive would be heavily dependent on the phone's capabilities. The cable itself would not prevent it, but the phone must be able to provide enough power to power the drive, and have the proper file management software to transfer the data. - Answer This device does not support the ATA Packet Interface (ATAPI) protocol. ATAPI is required for optical drives, including CD-ROM drives, DVD-ROM drives, and Blu-ray players.
