Yes to both your questions I hooked up my Roku to the TV and the remote control automatically programs to your TV the Roku remote is really easy to use

In all cases you will need your Xfinity remote to change Xfinity channels. Of course, the Roku remote will change the Roku channels. You can also change Roku channels with your voice. And, some of the Xfinity remotes allow you to change the Xfinity channels with your voice. You have lots of options.
