Does this replace my DVR from my cable company? If so, besides the streaming capability, what's the difference?   (6 Answers)

      Answer

Yes - it does replace your cable Company's DVR. Instead you will need to get a cablecars from them (Verizon $5 per month). As for "What else it does", that depends on what features your cable company's DVR has. The Tivo Bolt is excellent at streaming Amazon, netflix and Hulu and lets you search across all services in one interface which is nice. This unit also works great for being on the road and use your phone to add events to record.

Yes, you can record on the Tivo without internet access. The internet is used to download your channel information. Shows/times, that sort of thing. The Tivo is recording from your cable or satellite service.

Will the bolt record streamed content from NETFLIX, YOUTUBE, AMAZON PRIME VIDEO etc, or will it just stream them. Internet WiFi connection only. No cable tv service provider.   (5 Answers)

It will just stream, I've never seen an option to record. You can download shows/movies from Amazon, but that's separate from the streaming service.

There is an OTA version of the TiVo. Just make sure you get that if your not going to pay for a cable signal.
