You need to call the correct Verizon Prepaid team -- that took me several tries. Have the IMEI code ready -- it's printed on a label stuck to the phone chassis beneath the battery (i.e. remove the battery). Verizon will give you a code that you must enter at the unlock screen. First, you replace the Verizon Prepaid SIM card with the new service provider's card, also located beneath the battery, and reboot the phone, going through the various setup screens. You should then see a simple screen with a blank line. Enter the code given by the Verizon technician and scroll down and select "UNLOCK". Within a minute, you're good to go.
