QuestionWhy do people answer ?'S if they DONT KNOW THE ANSWER TO. Don't believe all answers. My TV is a LG 47" & my stand is a 40" wide by 18" deep by 26" in height, i could put a 60 or 65" all day & look nice. I had a 55" I fixed TV'S before & sold them.

QuestionHow can this hold a 48 inch TV if it is only 42 inches wide?

- Answer The 48" of a 48" TV is the diagonal measurement of the TV. The width of a 48" TV would less. The top rectangular surface of the cabinet is 44" wide x 10" not including the trapezoid surface.

- Answer It will, but the TV will hang out an inch on the sides. You may have to move the stand slightly outward from the wall to accommodate this

- Answer As long as you make sure you don't exceed the max weight capacity of the stand (stated as 250 lbs), you should be fine. I'm currently using a stand designed for 32" TVs to hold my 40". As long as weight isn't a concern, the only issue might be the aesthetics (depending on how important that is to you).
