      Answer

It's very simple. As soon as you plug this device into your computer it will recognize it as a NEW storage device automatically. At this point, you just open the folder on your computer that contains all your photos and DRAG all the photos to the new hard drive. (i would create a photo on the new hard drive first called "Photos" or something similar.

What is the difference between the My Passport 2TB USB 3.0 at $79 and the WD - easystore 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Black which is $129?   (2 Answers)

          Answer

The easystore line is a BestBuy only hard drive with missing features (you cannot set a password or encrypt the drive) and a reduced warranty when compared to the WD MyPassport line. Otherwise it's a WD manufactured hard drive that offers great transfer speeds. Because the easystore has fewer features, it is generally cheaper. In this case, because the MyPassport drive is cheaper, I'd recommend that drive over the easystore. Check this thread https://community.wd.com/t/my-book-passport-vs-easystore/203207/5

It wouldn't be able to connect up to an iPad or iPhone, but it would be able to be connected to a Mac or Windows based computer. Once connected, you could store pictures and music on it.

              Answer

It will not necessarily automatically back up everything on your computer (programs, for example, would not be backed up). You can always use it like you would use a flash drive and drag and drop anything that wasn't included in your backup.

After some initial confusion because the unit offered several options, I was able to figure out that going into preferences and hitting time machine made for a flawless connection. Yes, it's easy even for non-computer savvy people.
