• Putting DVD in wrong side facing you. DVD writing should be facing away

• There was no setup required on mine, maybe see if the disc is in backwards?

• I did the same thing took it back to Best Buy and found out I was putting blueray disc in the dvds I had purchased had both blueray and dvds. That took care of my problem
