Whirlpool avoided the question. Yes the tub material is stainless steel that has BITUMEN INSULATION ON THE OUTSIDE!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, JimBo, I totally understand what you are saying because I also noticed this. Nowadays on the market, all the SS tube dishwashers have bitumen insulation. All of them have smells. It true. Whoever said they don't have smell they just didn't pay attention. I eventually bought a plastic tube dishwasher not it's broken. My new dishwasher also has bitumen insulation. Especially when it's working, it smell is quite unpleasant. I start to consider to get rid of it although it's new. As I know, probably the Germany company started to use it on cars for better insulation many years ago. There are lots of complains in China about the disgusting smell in those luxury cars. People there could be more sensitive on smell.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I got this a few weeks to a month ago and no odor whatsoever. I didn’t notice any tar when installing it, either. Any chance it’s something the installer did?
