“Any owner experience the unit start making humming noise? Sometime it is not as loud, but sometimes, it is very loud. I am not talking about the noise when the unit fill up water for ice, it is almost like a semi high pitch noise that goes on and on.”

Yes!! I recently purchased this refrigerator and sometimes the humming is so loud I can hear it down the hall and in the living room. I've seen several reviews pointing this noise out as well. Seems to be an issue with this model.

This feature varies the speed of the compressor depending how warm the refrigerator is inside. I believe this is normal for this product. This refrigerator also has a feature where you can increase the ice production for a 24 hour period by requesting it on the front key pad. When it in this setting the compressor only runs at high speed to increase ice production.

I have a service call for them to come out and check it. I will post here when I hear what the service tech says... This post - the orig. post was here 7 yrs ago and this Whirlpool 28 cu ft side by side is STILL MAKING this NOISE is sad - the company must think it is ok... put this in the president of the company's house AND he would be returning it...
