I have a newly constructed home which came pre-sodded and don't plan add in-ground irragation any time soon. The builder left me with hoses with above ground rotor sprinklers on stakes. I reworked and added to these to create three zones, then connected them to ourdoor faucets. The Rachio Smart Hose controllers allow me to set zones with the Rachio app and control them with the app or by speaking to my Google ecoststem (e.g. "Hey Google, open the Easy Yard") The app is so well designed, in the future as I add in-ground irrigation, I will buy the Rachio controller, then repurpose these to vegetable beds, etc. They run on two AA batteries, and report in the app the battery status. You can also press the blue button on the unit to turn off or on. The hose connections are secure and do not leak, even with the faucet left on.

This device, is able to automate my morning and night watering. The app is simple and beautiful. and easy to use.

Election year is upon us and I highly recommend this smart timer in conjunction with a video doorbell to keep those pesky solicitors away. Just point your sprinkler towards your door and activate the next time someone rings your doorbell for many, many moments of fun!
