    Synopsis

    Rage
A respected businessman with a dark past embarks on a violent quest for revenge after his daughter is abducted by men seeking to settle an old score. To his friends and family, Paul Maguire (Nicolas Cage) is a hard-working family man. Little do they realize, Paul once lived a very different existence -- one where life was cheap, and debts were paid in blood. Now, as Paul returns to that old lifestyle in a bid to rescue his daughter by any means necessary, he'll learn just how far his enemies will go to make him pay for his past transgressions. I believe that anyone who’s had frustrating dealings with the revenue service of the United States government ought to be able to empathize his or her way into feeling a wisp of sympathy for actor Nicolas Cage. While we don’t have his own confirmation on this one way or another, it’s widely assumed that the tax troubles publicized five years ago motivated what’s seen as his current “anything for a paycheck” mode of working, which sees him starring in such schlock as a reboot of the "Left Behind" movies, themselves based on novels that, let’s be honest, are crackpot extrapolations on Christian beliefs that actually have no basis in scripture…well, let me not go there. Point is, he’s doing oodles of stuff that, according to conventional wisdom, no Best Actor Academy Award-winner would've ever allowed himself to be sullied by. (The conventional wisdom has clearly never heard of the movie "Inchon," but I digress. Look it up.)

Cage plays a protective father who has been out of his criminal life since his wife passed away, and completely falls apart when his daughter (Caitlyn) goes missing, presumably kidnapped. Cage has to go back to his criminal lifestyle in order to solve the mystery of Caitlyn's disappearance. blah, blah, blah. I went into this movie thinking that it would be a Trespass-esque Cage movie with the ironic hilarity of Wicker Man, and I couldn't be more happy to be disappointed. Nicolas Cage pulls out all of the stops for Rage. His Cage-isms, as I call them, are still present, but they are within the context of his character losing his mind as a desperate father. Well done!

The movie had so much potential. I think Nick did a great job and so did the supporting cast. I wish there was a little more surprise then the story being played. Kind of figured out the story before the end (about a little more than half way). I still like it though. I don't think I would recommend it. Let them borrow my copy and make their own choice if they want their own copy for their collection.

This movie is a lot better then most people give it credit for. I mean go into it knowing it is your run of the mill revenge action flick. Go into it knowing it isn't the best written or directed movie. But what it Is is a decent turn your mind off and go for the ride kind of movie. So if you do that you should enjoy the movie. But if you go into expecting Oscar worthy stuff you'll be disappointed.

Nicholas Cage, delivers his usual over the top (enjoyable though) performance! The story, cast, and cinematography are all good. I did enjoy it from start to finish and the icing on the cake was that one of my friend's Aubrey Peeples (from Sharknado, and Nashville) plays Nicholas Cage's daughter in the film. It takes place in New Orleans and has a Mystic River feel to it!

Loved Rage the movie was excellent. It was a sad thing for the young people to play with his gun's and his daughter was murdered. He went through the city with revenage not only killing people from the mafia also his friend. To find out in the end that it was the same young man who was in his house talking to him about his daughter.

First rate cast with superb character portrayals. Former mobster takes justice into his hands when his daughter is murdered rather than let the justice system solve the case. Everything that could go wrong with this scenario does and things spiral violently out of control with nobody winning in the end.
