This video features the multi-instrumentalist jazz musician Rahsaan Roland Kirk in a 1972 performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, backed by pianist Ron Burton, bass player Henry "Pete" Pearson, drummer Robert Shy, and percussionist Joe "Habao" Texidor. Blind from an early age, Kirk taught himself to play the tenor sax, the stritch, and the manzello, and could play more than one instrument at once. He could also sing and play simultaneously, using the technique of circular breathing. Restored from the original masters by famed Atlantic Records producer Joel Dorn, the video of this eight-song set includes "Improvisation," "Seasons," "Volunteered Slavery," "Serenade to a Cuckoo," "Never Can Say Goodbye," and more. ~ Steve Blackburn, Rovi
