Customers value the Blade 15.6" Gaming Laptop's build quality and performance, frequently praising its excellent construction and top-notch speed. However, some users experienced issues with overheating, short battery life, and occasional problems with the speakers and keyboard. While many found the laptop relatively quiet, a few reported experiencing coil whine.
I went through 2 of these. I genuinely wanted to keep this laptop as it’s beautiful and its performance is top notch. I even had my DAW open with heavy VSTs from NI Komplete, and Heavyocity Forzo/Novo with no issues at all. The problem lies in two areas. First off I’m extremely delicate with my electronics. I treat them with care. On my first run, I noticed a bend in the laptop lid, right side. A bend that was extending outward, away from you as you open it. I can only assume that this was from always opening the laptop from the right side of the lid. Which I always did delicately. It’s like Apple’s bendgate issue. The laptop also had a noise that was coming from the speakers which sounded like interference. I read a few posts about updating the Realtek drivers but that didn’t solve my issue. Muting them didn’t affect anything either. On top of that, there was a high pitched whine that was coming from the center of the laptop. Some recommended changing out the SSD. I had a spare, tried it, same issue. I later found a helpful discussion thread that said it was due to the CPU and the way you can tell is by changing the performance mode to battery saving. Or you can download a CPU program (I forgot the name of it) that will let you throttle the CPU. I did that and after I throttled it down to 2 something, the sound went away instantly. After returning the CPU back to normal speeds 3+, the sound came back right away. So the issue is in the CPU. If you go to YouTube and search Razer 15 2019 noise or Razer 15 2019 cool whine, you’ll find quite a few videos with the same issue. I returned the laptop and got a replacement. This one I made sure to only open from the middle to avoid bendgate. Sadly, the CPU noise remained on the new replacement as well. It won’t show its face upon first boot. Once you get everything loaded up and start using it, even during web browsing, opening and closing programs, you’ll definitely hear it if the issue is there. I couldn’t bring my self to keep a $2600 laptop that had issues like this. I posted the video on Razer’s Facebook post about this model and how they were getting praise for the laptop, yet no one from Razer bothered to reply. I didn’t bother going to Razer support as the discussion thread said they’re only doing RMAs for the ones who have tried for the same issue. Since I was within my return period I just decided to call it quits. I loved this laptop aside from the major issues I had. I hope this helps someone and lets you know you’re not crazy about the sounds you’re hearing from this thing. If you have the noise, don’t put up with it. Not for this kind of money. It seems also that users who have the higher end 2080 model haven’t had any issue of this noise. Seems it’s only tied to the 2060/2070.

The i7 8750 processor is very quick. This is replacing a very old desktop. I play a few modern first person shooters, daily routines, kids homework, professional work, and run my Plex Media server through it. The thunderbolt 3 port allows seamless plug-in to my monitor. It includes additional USB ports as well. It helps streamline cable management and reduce total number of cords...making the wife very happy. I preferred the 2060 as it's the full fledged desktop version vs the MAX Q design. Performance vs the 2070 Max Q isn't noticeable but differens anywhere from miniscule to almost 10% in a few games. The performance difference is made up in clock speeds as the 2070MaxQ is kind of handicapped while the 2060 runs full speed. Build quality is on point. I haven't found any issues comparable to the production flaws found in the 2018 razer laptops. My wife is very happy with the new setup and I get to keep my system performance. I will say, that a 2nd HDD would be nice. But it's something I can live since a larger battery took its place. Instead, I have a network area storage for all of my important files. Between that, Google and Microsoft One drive I really don't have a need for extra storage. Best laptop I've ever owned at this point.

Spent an entire day setting up windows the way I like, them spent the next day testing performance. CPU max temps seem reasonable at 81c and GPU has been at 74c. SSD seems at least close to my 970 evo in my desktop. The screen on this is the best I have seen on a laptop personally. Great color, 144hz is always a huge plus, and don’t listen to anyone saying it’s “not bright enough” this screen gets blinding bright. Besides the lower brightness is preferred to most. Build quality is fantastic. I opened the bottom before even turning it on, Samsung ram 8gb 2666 for both slots running in dual channel. M.2 is a lite-on 512. Fans are excellent and very quiet even cranked all the way. Speakers are decent, nothing incredible, the touchpad is very good, and the keyboard feel is great for a laptop. Lighting on the keyboard especially with the mercury white is about as breathtaking as Keanu Reeves. This is expensive but the quality is there. The power brick is smaller than most but still 230 watts, and the braided cord is excellent. Very impressive machine for its size, it’s very light as well, but feels solid. Battery is about what’s expected from this size laptop. I have got almost 4 hours just light use. Highly recommend if willing to spend this much
