What's Not to Like?
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendGreat cast, incredible (even if embellished for the movie) story of a huge cultural change. The football scenes are well shot, but the real strength of this movie for me is the off field interaction of the players. The true value of sports in forging lasting change is extremely well presented. This one hold up well - Denzel, Patton, and the remainder of the excellent cast are largely the reason. Sad that recent events not too far from where this took place prove that more than just a football team could benefit from the "boot camp" approach.

One of my favorites
|Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendNot sure why I took so long to purchase, but this film is a must-see. I have never met anyone who didn't like it. Compelling story, and great lesson on history. Emphasizes how everyone can co-exist and find common ground. And Denzel Washington is absolutely brilliant!

good
|Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThis is a funny silly film made even funner because it's now in 4K UHD. 4K is the future if you don't have it you need to get on the ball seriously. Best picture and sound you can possibly get.

Amazing show even today
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI remember watching this movie back after it was available to rent and enjoying it. But after buying it now on bluray some 19 years after it's theatrical release it's still a great movie today. The movie has a great 1080p picture for this 2007 original release. Some of Disney's other movies in this time period suffered from heavily softened images (Count of Monte Cristo) to the point of looking like a DVD transfer. The audio quality is also great with good use of the rear speakers in ball games, but almost unused in dialog heavy portions of the film. The message I feel is also great in this film dealing with the issues of racism and segregation even in 1971. But the film's message isn't condescending or hateful in it's approach to the topic, but rather focuses on the need for brotherly love and respect in order a society where these issues had built up to a boiling point. The cast and crew in the movie are also excellent all around with many going on to larger roles after this film. There are a lot of great sports films, but this is perhaps my all time favorite (although the Rocky movies are quite good).
