Almost a return to glory
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.R.E..M attempt a return to the glory days of old and succeed on several songs but fall short in terms of their past seemingly effortless great albums. Songs like Imitation of Life sound as if they could have been on an R.E.M. album from the eighties but other songs fall short, such as Summer Turns to High, which tries too hard to recapture the atmosphere of past songs. A better album than I thought it was going to be and at the price I bought it for it definitely was a bargain.

REM turning mellow?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Music that only REM can do: flowing, harmonious rock music accompanied by lyrics so deep that one can easily become swallowed. This album was good when I first got it and it's still good today. The songs are mellow and somewhat similar that one can tell that there is definitely a theme associated with this gem. I've enjoyed listening to all songs including the hits "All the Way to Reno" and "Imitation of Life". My personal favorites include "Disappear", "Saturn Return", and "Lifting". This is another mellow album by R.E.M. that I really enjoy as well as listen to from time to time. If that's not your thing, then this might not be for you.
