    This lens comes with most package offers of the Nikon 1 camera (see my review of the NIkon 1) This lens gives you the equivalent of 27-81mm in the FX format and has an 8 inch macro capability throughout the zoom range. Yes it has a smaller aperature, but considering it's light weight and the BRIGHT electronic viewfinder (V1 cameras) I did not miss the faster lens coupled with the hefty cost of Nikon glass. In using V1 and the 30-110mm lens, I found that I relied on the 10-30 lens over 90% of the time for single shots. The image quality is superb for it's format, with a short and easy zoom range adjustment of the lens barrel. However if your desires are primarily to use the camera in it's superbly rated video mode than I would recommend the expense of the 10-100mm lens. Which ever way you choose, I think you will be pleasantly surprized in the high quality and innovative initiative shown by NIKON! Happy shooting, Kenn

    This is lens is a must have to go with your J3 camera. I use it all the time. You'll be wowed by the clarity your pics have. when I zoom in on my photos for editing or cropping, I don't lose any clarity. It's awesome.
