THis review is for the HP x360 14m-ba015dx Did some research on a very similar model for a while but was holding off because the specs just weren't quite there for the price. This one had slightly better specs AND came with the HP Active Stylus which is $50 alone PLUS this 2-in-1 went on sale for $150 off to $400, which was very good considering this is a brand new laptop with WIndows Ink, i3 cpu, 8GB of ram, and 14" screen. I am a student in college and bought this with the intent of seamless note-taking and doing homework and so far it is exceeding those expectations tremendously! I've had 2 laptops before this; both were always old compared to the times when I got them, but this is the first laptop I've bought in a store myself so unboxing was a beautiful experience. This 14" 2-in-1 feels solid to open and close, hold, and to write on. I had mobility in mind but I also have times to sit in the same place for hours at a time so the 14" screen makes this perfect as I can hold the laptop in my hand as I take notes or sketch on the screen (which feels amazing, stylus response is very snappy) or I can set it on a desk as I do research online, watch videos, listen to music, etc. and enjoy a clear HD screen. The screen is honestly my only complaint as the 1376x768 resolution is pretty dated for 2017, I would expect at least 1600x900 or even FHD; the viewing angle also isn't the best because I basically have to look at the screen straight on to view the display properly. Both of these screen issues are honestly pretty minor IMHO however because I rarely have others looking at my screen and the resolution choice was rather smart because the lower end cpu can handle video playback much better at this resolution rather than FHD. The B&O audio is loud and clear. I honestly didn't think much about this in my research because I mostly have headphones when I am streaming any media, but these speakers really impressed me! Although I miss my Lenovo UltraNav in my keyboard of my old ThinkPad, the trackpad on this laptop is super easy and satisfying to use. I always used either a mouse or the UltraNav on my old laptops so I thought it would take longer to get used to all the gestures built in to this trackpad but so far this also has impressed me as it is super smooth, very responsive, highly customizable. and is gaming friendly... I have a built PC at home for gaming and heavy program use, but I always try out different games on my laptops whenever I can. Of course, I've not tried any newer titles on this little guy but I have played Skyrim on high settings with AA and Shadows off and it handles it rather well. The limited resolution helps with that as well. The i3-7100U seems to be handling everything I throw at it pretty well. I'll have a few tabs open in Edge, one of them being YouTube as I'm writing notes in PowerPoint or OneNote. Apps open pretty quickly and the laptop responds to input pretty much instantaneously. Battery life is amazing; I've only had it for a week so far and I've probably charged it from ~15% to full twice. The 3rd day I had it I took it to school, scribbled notes and casually surfed the web for a few hours on battery as I downloaded Skyrim, then had an hour and a half of free time to see how Skyrim worked on it, forgetting to plug it in. It had finally drained to 15% (battery saver mode engaged) and I then plugged it in. So that day I used it casually for ~4 hours, heavily for 1.5 hours, and still had 15% to go! One problem I had initially was that when I connected it to my home wifi network, it would crash the internet connection for all devices connected to the network! After some vigorous research, I discovered that the HP bloatware that was preinstalled was using a port that was not agreeing with our firewall, so after uninstalling all the bloatware, the laptop was running slightly faster and connecting to the wifi network like normal. Final thoughts: I would've paid an extra $25-$40 for a backlit keyboard on this but I'm ok without. Although I got this on a really good deal, I would easily pay $550 for it now that I have some experience with using it and how smooth everything is. One cool thing I discovered was when I was holding the stylus, I dropped it on my lap by accident and could not find it for a hot minute. After I picked up the laptop, I realized it wasn't in my lap anymore... there's a magnet for it on the front of the bottom of the laptop and the top of the back of the screen! I was tickled at this.
