    i5 for a reasonable price

It certainly does not have all the bells and whistles, but it is a new i5 processor with a 1TB hard drive. No SSD or independent graphics chip, but it is only @ $500.00. Decent (not outstanding ) touch screen, very speedy on normal laptop tasks (i.e., this is NOT a gaming machine), keyboard has a nice feel. For a student, business person, and "regular" computer user it is hard to go wrong with this machine. If you want a separate graphics chip, SSD, 4k screen that is understandable. But it will cost you a lot more than $500.00. For the price, a very good value.

I bought this laptop on April 17 of 2018 and the hard drive crashed already. My wife and I both purchased one and hers is working fine. I loved it until the drive crashed, coincidentally, just after the warranty expired.

I got this laptop for my son. It broke down during the first week of use. The blue error screen pop up and laptop was useless. I returned and exchanged for a new unit at least twice. However, the same error kept coming up.

Xbox will not open without an internet connection. Therefore, when traveling, you cannot play games that use Xbox to start. Very dis-satisfied.

    A Great Purchase

This is truly a good laptop for those that wish to get the most performance dollar for dollar. At a sticker price of $530, I can't see any other laptop on the market today that is pushing these specs. The new Eighth Generation Intel Series of Computer Processors is the largest improvement that Intel has made to power since I can remember in at least ten years. This is naturally a response to the rising performance of its competitor AMD in the last few years. Nevertheless trading up from my two year old computer to this one has mad a tremendous difference. The new I5 has twice as many cores as it previous generation and a massive jump in processing speed to 3.4Ghz using Intel Power Boost. Paired with eight gigabytes of DDR4 SD Ram, 1 TB Hard Drive, Touch Screen, Bluetooth, and Windows 10, you can't go wrong here for the money. Keep in mind that this is a plain looking computer however without some of the fancy bells and whistles of its more expensive competitors. As in the computer market, its all about how the company weighs in on performance and features for your money. The best way to possibly describe this computer is by analogy. You may think of it as a late 90's Mustang or Pontiac. It is plain and straight forward but with a lot of power under the hood, and this computer follows that same guideline. Some of the corners that were shaved to save money are as follows: You are not going to get amazing screen quality with this laptop, although it is still a good HD monitor in my personal opinion. If you are picky about 4k Ultra Monitors and Gaming Quality, this may not be as sharp as a picture as one would like. But for me, the screen resolution works just fine, after all this is not intended to be a gaming machine. Additionally, you will not get a backlit keyboard for typing in the dark, obviously this is to save money for that high dollar processor. I have read other reviews about build quality, and yes this is a cheap build quality. But now so bad that I can't live with it. If you are responsible and take care of this, there is no reason why it wouldn't last many years. But the plastic outside casing is a little flimsy and I can assure that it will not take much of a fall or impact to break, so this machine needs to be handled more delicately than other laptops that I have purchased. Also, when you open the lid of the computer, the bottom portion of the computer lid actually projects below the laptop itself and physically wedges the computer backward as you open the screen up. This is rather odd considering that this easy to find issue should have been discovered by HP prior to production. As a result, I often find myself opening the screen first prior to setting the computer down on the table that way the bottom of the lid doesn't rub across my counter while opening the lid. However despite these few very minor flaws, for $530 I can't complain. I would have easily bought this computer again. It is extremely fast, has a quick boot up time, and a multitasking powerhouse. This is the best pound for pound performance machine on the market now for the money when it comes down to its amazing number crunching power. Despite the few negative drawbacks about screen resolution, backlit keyboard, and the lid opening, the benefits honestly out way the very few negatives here. I would easily recommend this computer to anyone looking at a great computer for the money with a lot of power. HP will do well selling these units.
