You Will HATE the Remote!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, Yes the TV picture is great and the price is great. We replaced a 6 year old 720/1080i TV and this is a bit better - not a lot, just a bit. We also have a 2 year old Plasma LG 52" that's way better then this. AND.,YOU ARE GOING TO HATE, Yes, HATE the low tech, Obsolete, poorly designed remote. And, lets face it you're going to have that in your hand for a long time. 1. its an old fashioned inferred remote (I've not seen a "line-of-sight" remote since the mid 90's - IT MUST BE Looking DIRECTLY at the small area in the center bottom of the TV to Work. That's right, if its even a little off it won't work. If your knee or a glass or anything is in the way, no signal is received. It is obsolete and has no business being used anymore. I have handheld remotes to turn on outside lights - the receiver switch is inside a shed (backyard 50 feet away) I use the remote from inside the house - no issues. The TV we replaced the remote worked from under the covers when your all snugged-in at night. I am angry - as soon as the money is available this TV is trash BECAUSE OF THIS OMG(!) ANTIQUE OBSOLETE infrered remote. 2. There are no numbers on the remote. You have to SCROLL everywhere, WHAT?!? OMG (!) 60 channels of regular TV alone. THIS is so mundane and slow - you're constantly scrolling up and down, example from channel 3 to 29, to 60, back to 17 - - what was Roku thinking? 3. it has Netflix, Hulu and other "quick-jump-to" dedicated buttons on the remote. What a Waste of space, you hit them by accident and where ever you were you're not now, And, the HOME bottom can do exactly the same thing just as fast. (Home) takes you to all your app channels. Roku installed low tech, obsolete, antique technology in an 2018 4K TV - it is the worst experience I've had since getting up to change the channels. The analogy is getting into a Ferrari and driving it up onto a flatbed truck, when you get where you're going you back of the flatbed and park. I gave it 4 stars So you'd see this review. I left a stellar review on the 49" Roku TV (we bought) before I realized what a scrupulous thing had been done by including an obsolete remote. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great TV for my gaming system and laptop display
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was very reasonably priced for its class and has an awesome picture. It is totally compatible as a laptop monitor and for my PS3. It has a quick and easy set up and a really simple remote control. I highly recommend this TV for anyone that wants full 1080p on a budget!

Really nice for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a TV for my home office that will get light use. No cable outlet or OTA so wanted a Roku TV to minimize the remotes. Look for $249 you really can't complain. It has a reasonable decent picture. I love Roku and having it built in is like saving $50. This TV is not going to impress videophiles as it has a somewhat washed out contrast, but colors are not bad and the brightness is acceptable. The power on time is SLOW! I guess the Roku portion initializes with ever power on so be prepared to wait. The Menu is a bit laggy, but once you are viewing something it is great. The back-light dimming is obvious depending on how much black the background has, but again for the price point it is fine. This TV was my second choice as the branch I wanted do not come in a 39-40 only a 43, and this was already pushing the size of what would look reasonable on the wall. And as I said for the price this is perfect, you will get what you pay for, but it will work fine. Great for a kids room or anyplace non-critical viewing will occur.

Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had the delight of being able to compare two smart TVs. The vizio 40in LED smart tv and this one. I’m just saying this.. The vizio which is a inch bigger is packed up in my living room ready to be shipped back. This has more apps, does not require a ethernet cord to stream or see apps, very easy to manage and download whereas is vizio was not i mean how can they? It’s only a handful of worthy apps anyway. I’m in love and I’ve had it less than 5hrs

Awesome Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first HDTV and it does not disappoint. The picture quality is good, speakers are adequate, and it does everything you need and more. I've downloaded a couple dozen channels and there is a good amount of content. I have heard from other reviewers that standalone rokus can get more advanced channels which allows for more content. I've since bought a Chromecast 2 which works well. Between the Roku's capabilities and the Chromecast capabilities and a 10ft HDMI to laptop which I can't do. Quite a deal considering that I bought the TV for $200 and the Chromecast for $25. Most importantly, I think the picture looks great. There are a couple frustrations I have with the TV. I wasn't expecting the remote to come with infrared instead of wireless and the insignia/roku remote does not have the headphones feature on the roku standalones. The TV startup takes a little while. I understand that standalone rokus can allow for secret channels and I haven't seen any options for this on this TV. Overall its an excellent buy whether at the sale price of $200 or retail for $240.

I would tell people if you need a new tv this may be the one to buy. we do mostly Netflix and gaming on it.We have had no issues with it. We bought the extra warrenty for 5 years and i hope if something goes wrong it will be easy to get it fixed..

I purchased my 2nd TV, this exact model A1+
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd of this model. My first Insignia was a tube type 19 years ago. I do not have but 1 small complaint, the audio gets too loud during commercials. This is so minor "Not even a real complaint. These are well worth the price paid. One in the living room last Christmas and now one in the bedroom. 99.9% satisfied.

Not good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this in May 2017 and right away it started to have freezing then resetting itself but then it stopped after a couple of days.....well low and behold it's doing it again. I have done everything i can do...factory reset ect....Googled this issue and apparently it is a very well known problem for which Insignia hasn't done a thing about. After reading through the forums there all they say to do is return it for warranty repair or refund from the store(which I'm doing today)....fortunately I purchased the extended warranty.....and the remote control is an absolute joke...it is a Roku device remote not a TV remote so no buttons...so can't input TV channels...the volume/mute controls are on the side...like a smartphone...and speaking of volume...commercials are played extra loud but shows almost can't hear.... A couple of good things are....picture is good...has 3 HDMI inputs and everything is fairly easy to get to on the back...

Great value.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have owned this TV for 7 months now. We have " cut the cord" so we have a Mohu Leaf for antenna and Roku for sufficient entertainment/educational offerings. This TV has fit the bill or should I say no cable bill. Great picture for the money and reliable. We don't want the a huge TV in our smallish living room that says TV is the most important thing in our life. Cause it ain't!

Can't Beat the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV on sale for a total (with tax) of $212. I was looking for a TV that offered decent resolution and specs, and fit perfectly in my bedroom - this product does that. I read a lot of reviews complaining about how its just a "roku with a tv built in" but that's what you're signing up for when you buy a Roku TV. If you have cable and want to keep the old fashioned remotes, or want a TV with higher specs, but like Roku, you're better off just buying the Roku box. But if you don't, this is a great TV for the price. It has plenty of HDMI ports in my opinion and makes a great product for someone in college, or looking to put it in their bedroom. It took me less than 30 minutes to set up the TV entirely (signing into channels and all), and has run smoothly since. There is no lag when turning it on or anything of the sort, and the Roku remote works perfectly from far (I don't find myself having to aim it directly at the TV all the time). And even if you lose the remote or dislike the remote, Roku does have an app that you can use to control the TV by wireless and it works really well. After having both just a regular Smart TV that you download channels on and a Roku TV, I can say the Roku is a much better purchase (again unless you have a cable provider).

Perfect TV for cord cutters.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd Insignia TV. I upgraded from a 32" to this one. I'll give my old one to my Mom. Wow, again I was impressed with the picture quality. The sound for me is fine out of this TV. It fits nice on my furniture. Plenty of cord cutting option in it. I do have a Nvidia Shield TV and an Xbox One S and a Mohu Leaf antenna connected to it as well. The Best Buy sales guy tried to get me to look at a 4K TV instead. Not sure why? This is a great TV and you need 4K content. Most of the stuff I watch is 720p or 1080p. The price was fantastic too, got it on sale! I need to work on a riser, perhaps two blocks of wood. Other than that I'm impressed by the quality of the picture, sound and built in apps. This was a wonderful upgrade to a bigger screen for my aging eyes. Going to enjoy playing my Xbox on it in bed and watching TV shows and movies. I have a pair of Bose speakers on hand, but the sound out of this TV is perfect for my needs. Careful of the sales staff, don't let them lure you away from this set, unless you buy into the 4K nonsense. This TV is a very good buy, IF you grab it while it's on sale! So far I'm very pleased with the Insignia brand. Great odd ball size TV that suits my furniture needs as well.

excellent 39" insignia tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so happy with the new insignia 39" 720p tv i purchased. i was limited by the size of my existing cabinet thus chose the 39" model as it fits perfectly. I was only interested in a new tv for viewing tv only. the price was excellent, installation simple and very happy with picture and sound.

Great price for great Tv!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great tv with smart capabilities for 250$. Only complaint I have is that when we hooked up blue ray smart Samsung player, the insignia remote does not.control the player as well so we have to use two remotes. Our other 3 smart tvs in the house allow for programming of controllers--this one does not seem to have that function but I will continue to look.

High Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a vizio 39" but the quality of colors and resolution wasn't so good. So , I returned it and bought this one. Comparing these two, I would definitely recommend getting this one as I was surprised when saw the quality. I never had an Insignia TV before and bought it for my bedroom. Now I can tell it is more than what I need.

Good roku set for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Intermittent WiFi issues but that could be the router. Otherwise this is a good combo of a modest sized HDTV with Roku builtin. Picture is clear and sharp with excellent color saturation and viewing angles. There are enough ports on it to satisfy connectivity needs. Have had it for about a year and would buy again.

Excellent Bedroom TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to purchase a small TV for the bedroom, preferably one with Roku built in. Narrowed my choices to this set and a 40" Hisense; side-by-side the Insignia just looked crisper. Got it home and set up was a breeze; Roku interface runs great and the picture quality is excellent. I have an antenna and blu-ray hooked up as well and they look terrific as well. Very nice set overall and for the price point WITH Roku you can't beat it. Quite happy.
