      Hi AnnamarieC.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring camera so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your Ring Solar Panel set up for optimal performance. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.

Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your solar panel, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush. Seasonality and how far north (or south) you live can affect the strength of the sun. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, install your solar panel facing south. If you live in the southern hemisphere, install it facing north. Ring recommends using the adjustable arm to angle the panel at about 45 degrees toward the sky to get the most sunlight possible.

If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Solar Panel, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Delivery was perfect. Note- be careful. This solar panel is known to not work with the Ring Camera Pro- this information was from a Ring customer service person. I have been waiting for months for a replacement after less than a month of use. Ring is apologetic but is not replacing the solar panel any time soon. I have Plus cameras with solar panels and there are no issues. Be sure to do your research before buying this solar panel for the Pro camera.

      Hi Mike.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how important it is for your devices to work consistently and reliably. The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring device, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you have some concerns with your Ring Solar Panels keeping your devices charged. In order to extend the lifetime of the lithium-ion battery, your Ring Solar Panel will not begin charging your battery until its percentage drops below 90%. You may see the solar device’s status as “Not Connected” in the Ring app when your battery is over a 90% charge, and this is normal.

Ring solar devices require 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. If the weather is cloudy or you get a lot of snow, this would limit the hours of direct sunlight your device is receiving, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures can also cause excessive drain on your lithium-ion battery. Visit our support center for additional information.

      Hi FredW.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

We understand how important it is for your solar panel to provide a consistent charge to your device. The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring security camera, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like your Ring security camera battery is draining more quickly than your Ring solar panel is charging it.

If your battery life is still relatively short even with plenty of direct sunlight, motion events are probably draining the power. Try adjusting your motion sensitivity slider and optimizing your motion frequency. Visit our support center for additional information.

I do all my shopping online to avoid interaction. Please just give me my items without requiring any interaction. Let's maintain the COVID-era practice of minimal contact and leave me alone. When an item says "ready for pickup," I assume it’s ready to be picked up—not to be offered other options or asked if I need help. I know what I came for and where to find it. I do not need to go to the register. Scan and pay exists, but for some reason, staff watch over your shoulder to ensure you're paying. Absurd. If you don’t trust customers, get rid of scan and pay. Simple.

      Hi Toothbrush.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Solar Panel so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Solar Panel was designed to provide a trickle charge to your Ring Camera to extend the life of the battery. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance.

While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Camera, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring cameras and doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40°F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges

As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Security Cameras may experience several issues including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working.

We have provided some information here regarding the effects of temperature drops on the device:
36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.

When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.

The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Solar Panel.

Not worth the money! I’m still changing a battery every four days! What’s the point? I’ve updated the settings so that the camera is not over worked but what’s the point in having a camera if you can’t use it how you want?
