Posted .Hi AishaT. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring device so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring device, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like your device is not operating as expected. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. For best performance, Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight per day for Small Solar Panel, and at least two to three hours for Solar Panel (2nd Generation). With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.
Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your solar panel, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush. Seasonality and how far north (or south) you live can affect the strength of the sun. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, install your solar panel facing south. If you live in the Southern Hemisphere, install it facing north. Ring recommends using the adjustable arm to angle the panel at about 45 degrees toward the sky to get the most sunlight possible. Ring solar products require direct sunlight to stay charged and provide power to the device. If the weather is cloudy or it rains/snows, this would limit the direct sunlight your device receives, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures may also cause your device's lithium-ion battery to drain excessively. With prolonged cloudy or winter weather, you may need to manually recharge the battery more frequently. When sunny weather returns and the solar panel receives enough direct sunlight again, it will keep the device powered.

POOR DESIGN
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cord that runs from the panel to the ring device is only 20 feet. It is far to short to reach the doorbell from where I need to mount it. Furthermore, Ring does not make longer cords -- or extension cords -- available.

Posted .Hi DavidP. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring Doorbell, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the connector cord for the device being too short to reach your doorbell. At this time, the 20 foot cable that comes with the Solar Panel for your Doorbell is the only cable available for it. We recommend following the instructions below to install a Ring Solar Panel with a Ring Doorbell:
Select your install location for your Solar Panel.
When selecting your installation spot for Solar Panel, be sure to choose a spot that receives reliable sun exposure every day. Ring Video Doorbell Solar Panel can extend your Ring Video Doorbell battery life with just a few hours of direct sunlight per day.
Line up your Solar Panel.
To properly line up your Ring Video Doorbell Solar Panel:
Use the Solar Panel’s mounting arm as a template.
Mark the screw holes on your chosen surface with a pencil.
Drill holes (Optional).
Optional: Use a drill to drill guide holes where you marked the position of the mounting holes.
If you are mounting the Ring Video Doorbell Solar Panel on brick, concrete, or stucco, secure the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to secure the anchors.
If you are mounting the bracket on wood or vinyl, just use the included screws.
Put up the mounting arm.
Secure the mounting arm to the wall with the included screws.
Tighten until snug.
Put up the Solar Panel.
Slide the solar panel onto the mounting arm. Make sure it's seated securely.
Steps for the Fork Connector Solar Panel for Video Doorbell 2, 3, 3 Plus, or 4.
Attach the Ring Video Doorbell to the wire spacer and connect Solar Panel plug to your Ring Doorbells.
Take the free end of the fork connector cable and pass through the wire spacer.
Use the screwdriver to secure the fork connector cable on the terminal of the Ring Video Doorbell.
Attach the Ring Video Doorbell and wire spacer to the wall.
To properly line up your Ring Video Doorbell:
Place the Ring Doorbell next to your door, about 48 inches from the ground.
Level the device using the level tool.
Mark the positions for mounting holes with a pencil.
Optional: Use a drill to drill holes where you marked the position of the mounting holes.
If you are mounting your Ring Doorbell on brick, concrete, or stucco, secure the included plastic anchors into the holes. You may need to use a hammer to secure the anchors.
Steps for Micro USB Solar Panel for Video Doorbell (2nd Gen):
Attach Solar Panel plug to wire spacer and Ring Video Doorbell mounting bracket.
Take the free end of the charging cable and place it on top of the mounting bracket with the plug piece in the center of the rectangle bracket.

Ring solar panels require direct sunlight. Filtered or indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your Ring devices. If the weather is cloudy, or you get a lot of snow, this would limit the hours of direct sunlight your device is receiving, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures can also cause excessive drain to your lithium-ion battery. If your battery life is still relatively short even with the solar panel installed, your Ring device's daily activities and subsequent power drain is more than the solar panel can provide. If you receive a lot of motion events in a day, try adjusting your sensitivity to reduce unwanted motion. Ring solar power devices act as a supplement to your battery, not a substitute. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your Ring Solar Panel set up for optimal performance. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel.

Solar Panels for security camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We live in an area with lots of sun so it didn't take much time for the panels to fully charge. Its only been a couple of weeks but so far no problems. Geek squad mounted them for us and made sure they have full sun and secure enough to withstand the wind.
