It needs to be cleaned regularly to work at all. In retrospect, I should have hardwired all my cameras. Yes the photo is from an overcast day, but the amount of sun makes little difference.

The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring device, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your Ring Solar Panel set up for optimal performance. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.
Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your solar panel, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush. Seasonality and how far north (or south) you live can affect the strength of the sun. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, install your solar panel facing south. If you live in the southern hemisphere, install it facing north. Ring recommends using the adjustable arm to angle the panel at about 45 degrees toward the sky to get the most sunlight possible.

Nice cord length and has survived multiple winds and rains. Bought a second. Keeps ring between 80-100 on cloudy and 100 by sundown.

We have 5 of these solar panels around our property attached to Ring Stick-Up Cams and they keep the batteries constantly at 80% + charge even with the many settings we use that are higher power consumption. The batteries have a long lifespan of many years and the setup of solar panels and cameras are maintenance free for many years after installation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have 2 ring cameras with solar panels and this is for my 3rd camera. I have yet the need to charge the other 2 camera batteries. These panels work as advertised and are easy to setup.
