    Get one to protect your lens. Much rather scratch this filter than my expensive lens element. Insignia brand is a great valve.

    I purchased this filter for our Nikon D5100 and our Nikon D5500. This is easy to use and came in a secure plastic storage container when not being used on the cameras. I recommend this product.

    Although UV protection isn't as problematic for digital pictures as it was for film, this filter provides the additional benefit of protecting the (expensive) lens from dust and other foreign objects. I wish I had bought one for each of my lenses, though, so I won't have to take it off when I change lenses.
