It's an AC adapter

It does exactly what you want... charge the Switch away from the dock. I used it on a recent international trip, and it was great! $30 for this feels like a lot, but it's Nintendo, so accessories are their thing.

My Switch was not charging because someone had bitten the end of my current charger cord. The item I needed was in stock at the store and I was able to recharge my Switch.

My nephew lost his charger and could not play online with his cousins. Great quality replacement device even though it was open box, there were no issues with it

I say that because the people at Best Buy are so helpful I came in looking for a replacement power cord because my pet destroyed mine at home I wanted an OEM part and took me straight to it and the pricing was reasonable I recommend anyone looking for a replacement switch charger come to Best Buy they’ll take good care of you
