Arrived extremely well boxed. When opening, all components are safely nestled in respective compartments.
Unboxing and setup are a breeze. Screw the base to the mount arm, and snap the arm into the monitor. There are two HDMI ports, one display port, and a headphone jack.
The stand has many adjustments. Tilt, height, and can swivel - up to a full 90 degrees. Also the stand has an internal channel to keep wires neat. The stand has a small tab to easily unlock the monitor. The monitor can also be wall mounted.
The HDR display is matt anti-glare, 23.8 inches, 1920 X 1080, at 200Hz, with a response time of .5ms. It has good vertical and horizontal viewing angles – 178 degrees. Also AMD FreeSync Premium synchronization technology for smoother gaming.
The monitor has a small “joystick” on the back that allows getting into menus, along with push buttons. There are numerous settings for picture – brightness, contrast, color temperature, etc. There are even adjustments for individual colors, gamma, audio, inputs etc.
I tried the monitor using a gaming computer and also a 4K blue ray deck. I looked for color, brightness, contrast, response, and the sharpness / clarity of the display.
To me, the brightness of only 250 nits seems a bit low. I found colors to be vivid in bright movie or game scenes. However, in dark scenes, the picture had less definition, and was a bit washed out. Although not 4K, the max 1920 X 1080 resolution on a 23.8 inch screen, is sufficient to make the display reasonably sharp. The 200Hz refresh rate, fast response time, and FreeSync made for very smooth action while gaming.
Playing blue ray movies also provided good color, sharpness, and smooth playback. Again, the blacks were not as deep, making for less definition in dark scenes.
The monitor has built in speakers, but they can only produce low volume audio. However, use headphones, or the headphone output for powered speakers.
The performance is respectable at this price point. Turns a 14 inch laptop into an (almost) 24 inch gaming machine.

Solid Gaming Monitor with HDR

The Acer Nitro XV240Y 23.8” gaming monitor is a solid gaming monitor. With HDR 10, low latency, and a stable base. I enjoyed gaming on the monitor. HDR mode limited OSD customization of the display, and I felt colors could be a bit deeper. But I noticed no light bleed and response times during gaming sessions were very good. Anyone who needs a gaming monitor that will not break the bank should check this model out.
(I tested the monitor using an NVIDIA 4060 gaming laptop.)
Setup: Out of the box, you get the power cable, stand in two pieces, an HDMI 2.0 cable. The monitor comes with one DP 1.4 and 2 HDMI 2.0 ports built in. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack on the back of the monitor.
Experience: Touch controls are intuitive. OSD works well. Gaming sessions have looked good. My unit had no ghosting, light bleed, or dead pixels. Stand takes up more of a footprint than I would like, but it is very stable. There is some slight cable management built into the base of the stand.
HDR is good, but…. to get HDR, you must enable HDR mode from the monitor. The problem here is once you enable HDR, you lose a lot of the built-in display customization. To further customize the display, I had to turn to my video card’s color and brightness calibrations to further tune the display to my desired output. It works, but I would have preferred that customization built into the OSD. By default, I found the HDR mode a bit too dark and colors were a bit more muted than I would have liked. But after tweaking brightness and color vibrancy within my video card’s control panel, everything looked good.
The only other nitpick is the viewing angle is not quite as wide as I would like. Things looked good if I was viewing the screen directly, but shifting a bit left or right revealed noticeable viewing angle distortion.
Conclusion: This is a solid gaming monitor. The experience was good. Anyone on the fence for a gaming monitor should definitely check it out. 4.5/5

Excellent so far. The video quality is amazing. I have tried a couple of new games in high res mode and the graphics are so 3D realistic I feel like I must be using a 3D headset.
Refresh speed is excellent. They come with built-in speakers. I tested them and they are ok, but I am using external speakers which are definitely better sound for music and games, but it is nice that they are there if you don't have external speakers or are having problems with them. Highly recommended and a good bang for the buck gaming monitory.
The only negative that I have is all of the control buttons are on the back of the monitor, so they are not easy to reach depending on where you have your monitor set up and especially if you are using a multiple monitor setup. Hopefully after the initial set up you won't need to access these, but I would have preferred if they were on the bottom edge of the front of the monitor.

I bought this monitor so I'd have an HDR screen to use with my Switch 2. And in short, it gets the job done. At first, even though the monitor was in HDR mode, the Switch 2 didn't recognize it as such. But changing the resolution settings on the Switch somehow fixed it. My Switch 2 is in the 2nd HDMI port, and my PC is in the 1st. The monitor has a feature to automatically swap sources, but it only ever swaps to my PC, not my Switch. Haven't tried swapping cables yet to see if that fixes it. The audio quality from the headphone jack is good.
Putting the monitor together was shockingly easy and required no screwdrivers. But the build quality isn't super tight as a result. You can see it shaking if you type too hard or shake the table it's on. And none of its adjustments snap into place. This is especially annoying for rotating the screen and trying to get it level with the desk.
On the technical side, startup is very fast. I thought the display had a very slight yellow tint, mostly noticeable on greys, especially in HDR mode. And sadly, in HDR mode, many display settings are locked, including brightness, contrast, and saturation. The tint may be part of a baked in blue light reduction that can be lowered, but not turned all the way off. This means color correction must be done through software. For PC, my Nvidia drivers had plenty of sufficient options. But you'll be more limited adjusting this with a game console. Thankfully, my Switch looks decent enough as is.
My biggest gripe with this monitor would definitely be menu navigation. Simple things such as switching inputs or changing volume require at minimum 5 button presses. And the physical location of buttons don't line up with menu on the screen. And because the power button is the same as all the other buttons, you need to stop and check which button you're touching before pressing it. I'm not sure if this monitor is compatible with any remotes to help solve this problem.
This is my first HDR monitor, so I don't know how common these issues are. But overall, they don't add up to anything more than slight inconveniences for me. It's not so bad that I would want to return the monitor or regret purchasing it. I got it on sale for $140. But if your budget is a little higher than that, maybe check out some other options. By no means is this monitor bad, but it isn't perfect either.

This Acer Nitro IPS 24inch monitor is practically the closest thing a to a perfected 1080p monitor.
*****PROs****
-IPS Panel
-200Hz on Display Port and 120hz on HDMI
-0.5 ms Response Time
-HDR10 Compatible
-Tilting, Height adjustable, and Rotating mount
-Very bright and colorful panel
-FreeSync compatible
-Integrated Speakers
-Integrated Power Brick
*****CONs*****
-None
Let me start by saying that I have owned several Acer monitors over the years and watching the progression of technology in their 1080p monitors has been a ride. At this point, monitors in the 1080p range do not get any better than this. In PC even with a beefy graphics card sometimes one cannot even reach the max refresh rate that some of these monitors can reach, and in console well they are limited to the HDMI technology which is only 120hz. The box and packaging is nothing fancy, it provides good protection and carries everything needed for the user. Inside you get your HDMI Cable, Power Cable, Stand, and the Monitor itself. Set up is very easy, you screw the base and click the back part, and plug and play, and that is it. If you currently own a PS5 and or XBOX and want to try a monitor and or is used to playing through a monitor I would highly recommend this monitor. If you have a PC and need an upgrade I would highly recommend it as well. The panel is bright, it tilts, it has speakers, and runs up to 200hz honestly all you need for FPS games and single player games.

This was the perfect monitor for my setup! Crisp display for my games, fairly budget friendly compared to similar monitors (especially since I got it during a nice sale), and easy to connect to everything. The built-in speakers are nice to still be able to game if for whatever reason you can't wear headphones this second; they're obviously not going to sound quite as good, but they do sound pretty decent when turned up! Adjustable screen angle made it easy to set up for both my space and my neck

The Acer Nitro 23.8” 200Hz monitor is fantastic for fast-paced games like Call of Duty. The 200Hz refresh rate makes gameplay smooth, and the colors are sharp and clear. It’s affordable for the quality you get, making it one of the best monitors in this price range.

This item was a set with his hand free headset. He thinks he’s a king of the household. Whereas, he doesn’t have to do any house chores. However, the monitor is a great product at an inexpensive price. We are in love with it.

I have been using act monitors since the 90's. I have always found them reliable. The nitros are easy to configure. The stands rock, they are completely adjustable in multiple ways and easy to disassemble. The only issue for me was it only came with a HDMI and I needed a display port cable for both of my monitors.(yes, I got 2 nitros).
