I would recommend this net-book for someone who understands the limits of its capability. The good: Light weight makes it truly portable. Touch screen is very helpful in expanding views and scrolling through pages. Decent battery life. You can use the keyboard as with a real laptop, so type away. Runs on Chrome. The bad: Could have a better resolution and larger screen, I guess its is a compromise for the price of $299 at Best Buy. Runs on Chrome, which is Google's effort to all things to all people as long as it is Google. The ugly: If you are out of range of the internet (airplane or remote location) most of the functions are completely dead. It's like the name says - "net". My wife carried an I Pad Air and was able to continue to operate with maps, etc. I may have been able to keep some of the functions if I had downloaded some files. But it is not an easy task as compared to a windows machine. Conclusion: This is a very good niche machine. It is not a true economical alternative to a cheap windows machine for everyday use. I bought it for an overseas vacation for the light weight and battery life. I was able to do a lot of writing and some E-mail with it. But remember that Google Docs is not Office by a long stretch. Surfing on the net depended on area WiFi. I could have used the smart phone as a hot spot, but the data cost would have been too much.

Bought for my 7th-grader. Fills the gap between iPad and full-blown PC. My 7th-grader uses it for school, where more and more is being assigned online, but many websites aren't compatible with the iPad (no Flash support), and the PC isn't as convenient since it's stationary. Considered a low-end laptop, but most are slow due to lower memory and cheaper processors. And none weigh as little as this chromebook, can't match the battery life, nor do they have touchscreens. So far, I haven't found anything my 7th grader has needed to do that this chromebook can't or won't. If it weren't that it boots up almost immediately, it would be hard to tell it's not a full-blown laptop. The screen isn't as crisp/bright as others. And while I considered the HP Chromebook 11 for its superior screen, I found it dropped frames when watching a YouTube video using the store's high speed WiFi internet, whereas this Acer did not. I had them playing simultaneously and it was obvious the Acer performed better. I believe the Acer has dedicated video memory and the HP does not. The superior Intel processor in the Acer probably helps, too. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have the premium feel that you might get from an Apple product and the screen could be a little better, but for the price I'm not sure how you could do better. I've found myself borrowing it because I can boot it up, do my business, and shut it back down before my laptop would have finished booting up in the first place.

Best value for the amount of money you spend. Emphasis on best value for your money. The laptop I purchased had some hard drive memory and has a touch screen. At first, I was hesitant to purchase touch screen because I don't like prints all over the screen, but it has proven very beneficial! For the same price, yes you can get another laptop with windows 8 and yes it will have internal memory, and yes it might even be portable BUT over time, a basic laptop will slow down. Good quality laptops definitely require more investment. The chromebook will never slow down or heat up over time. Definitely gets rid of that frustration! It's portability is SOOO convenient for school. I was using a fully loaded laptop but it was too big and too heavy. In reality I don't even use any programs other than the internet. RECOMMENDATIONS: I strongly recommend using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. You don't have to worry ever about backing up your files or forgetting your pindrive/flashdrive. Your files can be accessed/edited anywhere! Even your smartphone. Give it an honest try. If you like it, chances are the chromebook is for you!

Purchased for my 8yr old as her first computer. She absolutely loves it and uses it to play kids games from various websites. Also great for watching Netflix and streaming music from Pandora. Great battery life so far and the added bonus of a touchscreen makes this a great value. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an easy to use web-based laptop that is light, sleek, and easily lasts 7-8hrs between charges.

I was doing alot of research online and reading a bunch of reviews on all the available chromebooks and found that the Acer was the biggest bank for the buck.I've had mine for over a month and I love this thing.Super fast, easy to setup and digging all that google has to offer without all the windows errors and expensive software.Quality built and it's just a goodlooking laptop.Touch screen is also a big plus.

I've had the Acer C720P-2661 for about a month now. I wanted something lightweight and portable, and with a keyboard. The 32GB solid state dreive tilted the scale in favor of the C720. I was leery of the mere 2GB of RAM, but so far that hasn't been a problem. Then again, I'm not the kind of user who'll open up a slew of tabs and apps. This thing has the fastest boot-up I have EVER seen. Google claims that Chromebooks boot up in 7 seconds. Yeah, that's about right. Open the lid, enter password, and zoom--you're good to go. By default, you open into your homepage on the Chrome browser. You are going to be limited to Google Apps; that means no Photoshop (though Adobe and Google are said to be working on that), no other browser (I still prefer Firefox to Chrome, but I can live with Chrome)--if there's no Google App for it, you can't run it. Well, sort of. If you have an Android apk and the Twerk app, then in theory you can convert your Android app to a Chrome app. It works for Skype, but as for other apps...well, your mileage may vary. I've found Google Apps to be good enough for what I do, most of the time. I'll sometimes fall back on my Inspiron laptop when I want to rip a CD (yes, I still have a few of those) or when printing from the Chromebook gets dicey. Our printer is a Cloud-ready Pixma, and I registered it with Google when I first set up the Chromebook. Printing was flawless for a few weeks but last week the Pixma was showing off-line status (it wasn't). And while web browsing works great, I can't watch Xfinity TV online, as I can on my laptop. On the other hand, I've got Netflix and Vudu working just fine (get with the program, Comcast). I wish the screen were more vivid. It's acceptable. Viewing angles are fine when you're looking straight at the screen. Turning up the brightness helps but drains the battery faster. Battery life seems to be about the seven hours or so Acer claims; I haven't timed it to know for sure. The keyboard is compact and most of the keys do double duty but you'll need to dig into the help files to find out how to delete, use ALL CAPS, move to a document's end or beginning, select text by words, etc. Some of the reviewers have said a Chromebook can't do those things. Not so--but, as I said, you'll have to dig down to find out how. All in all, I am more than happy with the response. Favorite apps: Google Drive, Google Docs, Feedly, Zoho Docs, Hangouts, Gmail--plenty here for day-to-day browsing. Oh, and Angry Birds works well here too. The trackpad is weird, though. I wish it were a more traditional design.

At the urging of my oldest son I bought this and have had no regrets. Its easy to use and very fast and I love the touchscreen. The price was affordable and the size makes it so portable. My youngest son likes it better than his ipad that he has for school. Would recommend this for all online shopping, bill paying and browsing.

I mostly use my computer for online based work, so a chromebook was perfect for my needs. After researching the various chromebooks online, I went into Best Buy to actually take a look. What really sets this model apart, to me, is the touchscreen. Since I'm used to working on my phone and tablet, its nice to similarly be able to just tap things directly on the screen in certain circumstances. Its super fast- boots up in seconds. Holds the battery great! I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I used to have the Acer C720 and this is a slight upgrade to the C720P, which adds a touchscreen. I love ChromeOS and the addition of touch functionality makes it even better. The Acer Chromebooks come with Celeron processors which make it zippy for single tasks and more than adequate for light multitasking. The keyboard is solid and the trackpad is precise while ignoring accidental input when typing. With an 11.6"display, this laptop is the right size for most productivity tasks like email, word processing, web browsing and watching videos. Speakers are pretty good for a device this size. It's light and fits in most bags and backpacks. Finally, the battery lasts literally all day with light to moderate use and charges quickly. Now for the touch part... Google has a lot of hidden gems in ChromeOS for touch users. Tap, drag, pinch to zoom and rotate. Long-tap on the display for a contextual menu (right-click). Swipe down from the top of the screen when in full-screen mode to get active tabs. Swipe up from the bottom to get the task bar. Swipe from the left to right to go to the previous page. Using Google Maps via touch is a joy! Scrolling is natural and quick. Most of Google's apps and web sites have been redesigned with Material Design, making them very conducive to touch, but many non-Google sites have not been touch optimized. I'm assuming this will change sooner rather with the proliferation of tablets and touch-enabled Windows laptops. ChromeOS has matured to the point where this can be your one and only computer. Google Docs can now open and edit Microsoft Office documents without conversion and web sites/Chrome apps exist for most of the simplest tasks that you would use a computer for, including image, video and sound editing. And with the extra Google Drive space you get with this Chromebook, storage is not an issue. If you need more offline storage, the built-in SD card slot can suffice with expandable storage. There's only one drawback with this laptop: Acer could really put this over the top by changing the display to an IPS or OLED. While the current display isn't bad, you really need to look at it from a lower angle in order to see accurate colors and contrast. Looking down from a higher angle can result in the display looking washed out. A better display would make this a perfect laptop. Regardless, I give it four stars and highly recommend this Chromebook because of its processor, touch screen and solid hardware.

I love my new touchscreen Chromebook. It loads up quickly and everything from my Google account is there just by logging in. There was no set up, just log into my Google account and I was ready to go. I like the Touchscreen feature but I only use it when playing games. I am a fan of Google Drive and like the offline features available even though I don't use them very often. I have found lots of Chrome extensions, apps and Web 2.0 tools to help with things like screen captures, video recording and editing, and easy control of app and extension settings. The battery life is great right now -- I can go all day without charging.

Overall, I purchased this chrome to use at night or when I am outside. I am very impressed with the battery life. Every PC should have this type of battery life. It lasted for days while I am not using it. It does not get hot. The touch screen is very responsive with excellent display. I no longer need to use the mouse for it. You do not have to be online to get work done. However, I have not utilized it extensively for word processing and etc. as yet. The downsize that I have noticed thus far is Java issue. I have not been able to use program such as Elluminate or similar program for virtual meeting. Otherwise, it is a great computer for the price. I am looking to buy another one, but I wanted to test it fully prior to purchase another one for my wife.

This review is being typed in my first Acer Touch Screen Chromebook. The second one was a gift to my son. These are great Internet devices where I and most users spend most of their PC time. It turns on very quickly and is protected from Malware/Viruses. Portability and great battery life are a definite plus. The touch screen adds a lot when you need to move a screen up/down or left/right. The Google docs provide everything most folks need in terms of word processing or spreadsheets. I cn't find anything to dislike. I am watching ACER to see when larger screen models become available.

The touchscreen is definitely worth the extra money over the Acer 270. In addition to complementing the keyboard in navigating through emails and websites, the touch feature makes the 11.6 inch screen definitely big enough. Our previous Acer Aspire (windows) also had the same size screen, but it was too small and cramped to work with. The touchscreen feature eliminates that impression. The keyboard and trackpad are perfect for my big hands, and have no sensitivity issues that I had with the Aspire. There are lots of ports to connect almost any device (are you listening, Apple), but you also can connect everything wirelessly. The 2GB RAM seems to be more than adequate to handle lots of open windows and "apps" simultaneously, perhaps because there is no bloated OS running. Thanks to the USB 2.0/3.0 ports, you can add flash drives, media sticks and backup hard drives (or access them wirelessly). I've had a company-issued iPad for 2 years, but now I'm always chasing my wife for the Chromebook. So much better !

I Love, Love, Love this Chromebook! I learned about chrome books from my 10 year old who uses them in school. It is a great device and FAST! I had a MICROSOFT SURFACE Tablet and it was the WORST device EVER! I got the chrome book to replace that and it's perfect for my needs. I was disappointed with the "app store" there are very few mainstream apps that you can load to this laptop. I was able to get google play on the device but I can not use the apps that I use on my phone on the laptop as it's not a tablet!. It's a most bizarre feature of this device. (Having said that I might be missing something cuz I'm not a tech head)

I bought this to replace my HP laptop. The Acer Chromebook has been a wonderful purchase. I love how easy it is to use and I love the touchscreen. I love that I can access all of my Google docs, my pictures, music, etc. The Acer Chromebook also comes with 100GB of storage. The battery life is approximately 7 hours which is really nice. It also warns you when it is getting low. It only takes a couple seconds to power up which is nice for school and in general. So happy with this purchase.

I got this for my wife because she never cared that much for the iPad as a replacement for her old laptop. I do all the needed computer work in our house, but she requires access to email and the web. This Acer Chromebook meets her needs perfectly. She likes a keyboard and this one is a good size. When she wants to use a touchscreen, she has that here too. It is fast and light, easy to carry from room to room. This could be her last computer, at least for many years!!

My husband and I purchased this laptop for our daughter to use for college. It's great! Light weight, touch screen plus keyboard, very fast, and she can plug in a memory card as needed. It's also great for watching movies on Amazon or Netflix in bed. The only downside is the lack of ability to play a dvd or insert any disc. So far, that hasn't been a problem for her.
