I got this on sale for $219.00. If I had paid full price I would have given 3 stars. Why? The CPU is almost 2 years old. That's pretty long in the tooth in tech years. Also, at the time of this review, this model does have support for Android app. Google say they plan on adding Android support, but have not committed to a date. So if you want Android App support now, look else where. That being said, everything else about this Chrome is above average(especially at $219). If you are just going to use this for web browsing and email, you will not be disappointed. Note: if you are buying this for someone who is over 60 and not the greatest eye sight, be ware. I would recommend that they do NOT run the display at full 1080P. The icons, along with the font size will be on the small side. Run the display at 1536 X 864 and go into settings and adjust the font size. Maybe one of these years, Google will fix there scaling issues for 1080P and higher displays. If this had support for Android Apps out of the box and the scaling issue not present, I would have gone with 5 stars at the price I paid. If you can live with the minor issues, this Chrome Book is a very good value. But only when it's on sale.

Lots of memory and a fancy Intel processor make the experience plenty zippy. The all-metal construction make it look and feel very professional. The SSD is pretty deep for a Chromebook, so it's good for those who like to put their device in developer mode and install more custom software. By the same token, it should be able to take a good number of Android apps when the Play Store comes out of the development channel. There is no touch screen, though, so the Play Store will take a little more time for this model.

This is a great budget laptop for students if you’re okay with using google docs. The laptop itself is well made and has a nice finish. Laptop is fast enough for Chrome OS and ports are enough for my needs.

This is a fast chromebook and very sleek looking. It isn't fair to compare it to a MacBook or anything else for that matter. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison. Chromebook have a specific niche and they're not for everyone. That being said I have to say the beauty of the screen is noteworthy. You can work on this for hours with absolutely zero eye strain owing to its non-glare finish.

I bought this laptop for College since it is inexpensive and I am really impressed with it! I never owned Acer products but this Chromebook is the best. Keep in mind that this computer is a browsing laptop meaning that you won't be able to do all the things you can like with a Microsoft laptop but, for what I need it this computer does the job. It has a beautiful display and the speakers on this laptop is amazing, it's also very lightweight and fast. Very happy with my purchase!

This is my second chromebook. My first chromebook was a smaller Acer entry level computer to experiment with Chrome OS. I liked it very much. I bought the Acer 14 for the larger HD screen, more memory, etc., and the simplicity. Extremely pleased with it. I use it as my primary general use home computer, mostly for online activity. Very responsive, good wifi signal pickup, great battery life, lightweight. Looking forward to learning more of the capabilities of Chrome OS.

Very pleased with this purchase. I did a lot of research before purchasing so I knew I would have something that would fit my needs. As a nerd, I wanted some additional features, like a touchscreen and a 2 in 1 tablet flippy thing. I made the concession that I would not need those, and am very happy I made that choice. It does exactly what I wanted it to do and I have not found myself getting frustrated at it (as it was sold in the store). I did enable developer mode, and installed a lightweight version of Linux which gave me some headaches, but both ChromeOS and Linux run simultaneously and smoothly (can switch with a press of a button!). I am still having issues getting the Google Play store to work, but I am confident that my nerdy determination will eventually prevail... or I will be the proud owner of a new cutting board if I brick it. (Came close a couple of times, but it has a VERY robust recovery system and despite running into several 'no os found' boot ups, I was able to restore the system with no data loss. My jaw hit the floor the first time I restored with everything in tact. Good job Google. I'm happy you do what you do.) I knew what to expect for performance, but found it to be a lot more malleable than anticipated while messing around with it. It's not a gaming machine, but that was not my intent. It is great for surfing the web, and managing my Google cloud storage. I do not have Chromecast or anything of the sort, but I am considering it. The case does feel a little cheap, but i get why they did it, it's not supposed to be an expensive machine to outperform all the rest. Its not built to be a ststus symbol. It's a relatively inexpensive and portable tool to connect you to the internet. If that's what you're looking for, you will not be disappointed.

I'm a geek and VERY impressed with this machine. I originally bought it for my 87 yr old mother, but she refused to touch it. I was going to return it, but decided to keep it after playing with it. It has a gorgeous aluminum body and looks and behaves like a much more expensive computer (can anyone say macbook?) Documentation is poor, but I cobbled together shortcut cheatsheets from various chromebook articles and taped summaries to to the empty spots around the keyboard. Each time I use it I'm more impressed than the last time. Unless a person has need for enormous compute power, such as for video editing or gaming, this is the way to go! Most apps have cloud based versions, and many can even be accessed off-line. Even though this only has a 16 GB SSD drive, it hasn't really mattered because I keep a 128 GB USB3 flash drive (the short stubby version) connected. I became a convert after listening to Leo LaPorte's podcasts (The Tech Guy) on my phone.

This was a great purchase. I bought this Chromebook for high school/ college and there is not a day that goes by that he doesn't tell me how much he loves it. He is able to get over 10 hours of use out of it till it needs to be charged. This is perfect for students who need something inexpensive and light. He was able to get a free copy of MS Office 365 so this perfect for his non-programming classes. Oh, for programming he uses a heavy laptop for that.

While this is a google only product without the flexibility of a full laptop, it does what it does well. This product was purchased for a disabled adult. she was able to take it out of the box and get it up an running without help. This is the ideal device for folks with limited demands of their computer. It is very fast and very user friendly. If google is all you need to surf the web, send and review emails, etc then this is the device for you!
