When I plugged it in, it immediately split to a dual-screen mode. I assume that is the cpu and not the monitor, but either way, I didn't have to do a lot of setup. It does include an HDMI cable, which is nice. The only drawback I saw, was that I wished the cable was a little longer. I believe it is a 6 ft cable; 8 would have fit more comfortably.
