Pleased with my choicePosted
I found this while looking for a laptop with a backlit keyboard (so I can sit in the room with my kids as they fall asleep & get work done without keeping a light on). I don't know why, but that limits the options to computers that are pretty expensive - this was over $900 at the time. I've had the computer for about two months, I and I do really enjoy using it. The worst part about it was a million malfunctions early on that I *think* were all related to Windows. Several re-installations later, it's mostly smooth sailing. I do feel that the quality reflects the cost. The special hinge works really elegantly, and I don't feel like it's going to break with wear and tear. I only have a couple of criticisms of the hardware. The power jack in on the right, which for some reason is inconvenient everywhere I end up plugging in. Worse than that, the power button is right next to that jack, and is tiny and totally flat. It's nearly impossible to find with my fingers and hard even to see if I look. I don't know what the point of that was. Finally, the mouse is *insanely* sensitive to any amount of moisture. If my finger has a tiny drop of water or hand sanitizer or something on it, even if it's so little that I'm not aware of it, it can send the cursor into hysterics, and the whole computer becomes unusable unless I put the thing to sleep for a few minutes and let it dry off. Weird. The best part of the experience was buying from Best Buy itself, and signing up for a Geek Squad contract. After this, I will never buy electronics from another online site again. The Geek Squad is so supportive and their expertise in the middle of the night and on weekends has saved me multiple times - even when my problems had nothing to do with the actual computer they sold me, but just random issues with software, etc. that made it impossible for me to work. I just wish they weren't so understaffed - if I didn't answer their online chat in like a milisecond they would cut me off and I'd have to start the process all over again - I ended up perching by the laptop like a hawk so I could punch a key - any key - fast enough for them to not hang up one me.

I had tried several laptops and had nothing but trouble until this one. I love that it starts up fast and has the HD resolution. It is not to big and I can take it with me easily. I did however have trouble with google chrome. Every time I made it my default browser it would get locked out by windows. Which is a windows 10 issue not the computers. So I just have it on the bar. I also like that the keyboard is sturdy and of good size when I type. The only thing that is a hindrance is where they located the power button. Very inconvenient but not a deal breaker. Over all I love the speed and resolution. You will want to go in and remove all the bloat ware. I took out quite a bit. I also love that you don't lose any speed when you have a lot of pages open. Speed is why I kept my old desk top and used it more than the tablets or laptops but now I can use the Acer and it is just as fast. This is a great buy at a great cost.. I know I went through 5 other laptops before getting this one.
