Updates when you first get it takes some time. When thats all down the laptop runs Smooth. It is compatible with high end games like Killer Instinct. The video memory for Resident evil lacks but you still can purchase the game. I haven't tried the RE game yet. Friendly with streaming and music play. No disk drive. Feels sturdy, user Friendly, you will leave smudge marks on the body of laptop. Love the light keyboard. You can adjust light level or have it turned off. Bestbuy

I received this laptop about 1 week ago as part of the Best Buy tech insider program. In exchange, I give my honest opinion of the product. The Acer Aspire R15 is a very slim notebook with a nice looking 15.6 inch monitor. The fun part is how the laptop can convert to a tablet by folding the screen over to the back. It is a bit larger than most tablets most people would use, but I think I really like it. I have a surface 4 and to me, this laptop in tablet mode doesn't feel any thicker (I do have my surface in a sleeve so that does make it somewhat thicker). The keys on this laptop are nice and they are backlit which is a very nice feature. There is no built in DVD player so you will need to purchase an external one if that is important to you. i have a portable blueray burner that I use for this laptop and the surface. This laptop is very quiet and hardly generates any noticeable heat when on my lap. In general I really like this laptop and I almost always grab it in place of my other devices. With all of the said, there are some issues I have found. The most annoying is a problem with microsoft store apps. Games such as solitaire and mine sweeper tend to crash in the middle of the game. In researching the web, there seems to be many other devices with this issue, so I am going to put the blame on Microsoft. I have done a complete reset twice on this machine and the problem persists. To me the mouse pad is nice, but tends to be more sensitive than I normally like. I know that I can make some adjustments and I will, but this is out of the box impressions. The computer is very snappy overall, but there are times when there seems to be an extended period between clicking on an app and when it pulls up. Lastly, I wish there was a hard drive light so I can at least tell something was happening (did I mention this machine is very quiet) and I wish the number lock key and the caps lock key had a light on them showing their status. The only lights are the power light and the battery light. Back to some positives - there are a number of ports. Two usb 3 ports, one usb 2, one usb type c port, a full sized HDMI port (unlike some of my other laptops), a headphone jack and an SD card reader. Screen quality is extremely good looking to me. I don't have any fancy gauges to measure light output, but I do like the looks of it. Maybe the biggest disappointment to me is the lack of a stand alone video card. This computer is using the Intel video driver found on the I5 processor. Honestly I havn't found it lacking on any of the microsoft app store games I have played on this laptop, but I don't think I would run out and buy any high end games and expect them to run at high settings and 60 FPS. Overall, my impressions are that this is a very good general purpose laptop with a very nice feature in its convertible screen. In just a few words, I like it. I just wish I could figure out how to solve the Microsoft store apps problems.

It worked good for the first few months but recently it's been freezing alot on the touch screen part. Usually takes a few days to start up and work again. It's good for the price

I can't say enough good things about this laptop. It just plain works as advertised. The touch screen is great and the feel of the keyboard is on point. I will buy again for sure.

One of the best feature is the keyboard backlight. Touch any key and the keyboard will light up. Performance is good so far and the 2-in 1 feature makes this laptop very flexible.

Bought this to use while on vacation and for the larger screen instead of my phone. So far as been a good investment, does everything I want and fast start up, very well built.

This is a nice laptop. The keys have backlighting and it also has a number pad. It is quick with the original hard drive. I replaced the original hard drive with a Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD soon after I got this laptop home. It is blazing fast now. It's fairly straight forward and easy to replace the hard drive. It is worth the trouble to do so, I promise. I use this laptop for college classes, writing papers, research, etc. It's a nice 2 in 1 laptop as is, even better after the hard drive swap.

Love the touch screen and tablet mode and the battery life is pretty solid.

Set up was pretty easy but the bloatware does take some time to remove - would have been quicker to reload windows. The display is excellent and probably my favorite feature. The touchpad is a little sensitive but should be ok once I'm used to it. Also like the lighted keyboard. Still using as a traditional laptop at this point so no sense of the touch screen effectiveness.

Overall a good computer. Touch screen takes a little getting used to. I have an iPad and the touch screen on that is much easier to use. The computers touchscreen scrolling is the part that I have trouble with. If you try to scroll in the middle of the screen it takes you to the first link you swipe across. I have found it easier to use the side of the screen to scroll.

Bought this laptop for my husband as he works primarily from home. Beautiful HD touch screen and lightweight. Totally meets his needs for work.

It is not my first Acer laptop, and definitely not the last. My Acer Aspire that I purchased in 2008 is still working just fine. No issues and no problems. Had to change the battery! Something normal. This Acer is not an exception. Working very fine with no hiccups or issues. My only concern is the skinny AC adapter jack. I wish Acer made a more sturdy one. So far, no issues with it but I don't like it so much! The display is perfect! The exterior feels great and premium. Keyboard is a joy to type. Just like it and recommending it!

Touch screen is very convenient and the i5 processor truly is fast

This unit has been serving me well. The first one I picked up did not work properly and overheated within three days of ownership. Must be a random fluke because the second one works very well. There is a real ease of use with the key board. the tablet mode with the large screen is perfect for presentations and movies. So far I like this two in one.

Bought this laptop for the wife. For the price, a really good laptop, fast, and runs windows 10 well for both laptop and tablet mode.

The speed is fast. Its user friendly. Connected quickly to other devices without issues. Love the touch screen and tablet feature.

Overall a very solid product, not flimsy and fragile feeling like most affordable laptops on the market. The technical specs speak for themselves so I will only comment on build quality. Bottom line, if it meets your requirements I would definitely recommend this laptop! 4 stars for a little bit of flex in the screen at the base.
