First off, if you have a philips LCD TV which you plan on using this device with via hdmi be very careful. My philips LCD tv, which is relatively new, was incompatible with the nvidia chipset in this device. It is a documented problem, poke around some forums for more details before purchasing. The good - this device is priced so that it was a very attractive option when I was looking for a home theatre pc. The built in hdmi port was a great feature, and when i plugged it into my brand new sharp aquos lcd tv it worked flawlessly. The nvidia drivers did a great job and setup was really easy. As I eluded to above the same was not true when i plugged it into my philips lcd tv. The bad - without going into too much detail, the device, with the out of box configuration, is not capable of smoothly playing back full 1080p hd content. The hardware IS powerful enough, and i was able to verify this, but it is not a trivial process to change the configuration of the device to support it. So unless you aren't planning on using it to play 1080p hd content, or you're really tech savy and have the time and patience to reconfigure the device, avoid it as an HTPC. Also note that this device does not have wireless built in so it requires a wired ethernet connection. If you're planning on putting it in a place where you don't want to run an ethernet cable you might want to consider buying this product's bigger, albeit more expensive, brother.

    cheap pc for mom

got this aspire revo for my mom since her old dell quit of old age, and she basically needs a pc for internet, word processing, and quickbooks. this suites her fine its cheap, runs office application and quickbooks with no problems but to get to the no problems level i had to spend most of my day configuring it, acer loaded it up with a lot of bloatware software that slowed down the start up and multitasking. the unit came with a usb keyboard like a laptop no number keys, a mouse, a single module of 1GB ddr2 400 memory (you can put another 1 as there's a vacant slot), a cheap plastic stand not the versa mount monitor mount, and a 160 GB 2.5" hard drive, you have to burn your own restore DVD as it didn't come with the OS CD and drivers i gave it only an average overall rating because for people like me who are tech geeks we can make this one perform very good but if your an average joe you'd be disappointed because its slow and cranky

I bought this to use as a Home Theater PC. I knew that the hard drive was a bit small for my use but I thought I would get an external to compensate. Unpacking the box was a thrill because of the size and good looking keyboard and mouse. Set up was a breaze and my tv found the HDMI connection and immediately displayed the computer over HDMI. I noticed that I did not have sound and tried a vido that I had saved on a thumb drive. Again, no sound. I ended up hooking up the computer to my surround through the headphone jack. I spent about 30 min uninstalling un-needed software and then proceded to try to browse the internet. I have high speed internet and it works great on my laptop however I could never get the speed that I was used while using this machine. I did some research on the HDMI sound issue and decided that I needed to return this machine. Too bad too! I really wanted this to work out

Good for light use - not as HTPC

Bought this to use as a dedicated HTPC to stream online shows. Loved the small form factor, silent operation, and HDMI output. Unfortunately, the single Atom processor is just not up to the task yet. Since most sites use Adobe Flash, the very nice ION graphics chip is not being used to its full advantage. Instead the poor CPU is running at 80-100% trying to decode flash video. Sites like Hulu were unwatchable in HD and barely watchable in SD. Adobe has a new 10.1 beta driver that was supposed to help. You needed to update to that driver and update to a new Invidia driver to take advantage of it They barely helped, but worse was that when updating you lost your HDMI audio!! Until Adobe and Invidia can work that out, I would skip this unit if looking for a HTPC.

I must be the only one using this machine as a computer instead of a streaming video machine. I bought it to play all the older games that I have that I like still, Windows 7 will not run them even in XP mode. I am having problems with one particular game, but I think it is the game and not the computer as other games have not crashed. For the price it is a great machine and I think Acer hit it on the head with this one. There are still people out there that just want to read emails and search the web and this is the machine for them. I would tell my friends that this maybe the machine for them if they are just looking to read emails and surf the web.

This computer is small and doesnt take alot of space. I dont like that it doesnt have wifi or a disk drive but it gets the job done had to download all the software i needed for my printer webcam from the internet. Picture quality is very good i got it hooked up to my vizio 22in lcd tv using hdmi dont like the fact that its slow and cant use the tv speakers with hdmi had to purchase regular computer speakers.

I HAD TO BUY A NEW TOWER BECUASE MY OTHER ONE (WHICH I BOUGHT FROM BEST BUY WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN) WAS FRIED FROM A STORM AND I NEEDED A QUICK AND INEXPENSIVE ONE FOR MY SCHOOL WORK. THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE TOWER, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS IF YOU NEED A FAST ACTING PROCESSOR, BUT IF YOU NEED IT FOR OMEWORK LIKE I DID IT DOES WHAT IT SHOULD. OVERALL I AM NOT TO IMPRESSED WITH IT AND IT TAKES TOO,LONG TO LOAD ANYTHING.

This is a great little computer for the price. It is perfect for web browsing and light word processing. This is not the computer for heavy graphics or gaming, but if you're looking for a great deal for basic usage, this is a great buy! It has a built in HDMI output and 6 USB ports, which is a nice added feature.
