You get what you pay for people...

It is what it is people... For those of you that wrote about it being slow, you should have looked at the specs. Its got and ATOM processor and 1GB of RAM... What about that implies that it will be fast??? And as far as reliability goes... Its a computer for $200, what do you want... There is a 1 year manufacturer warranty for a reason. Beyond that any computer can have problems. For the money this is a great little machine. Bottom line is that it does what it was intended to do... Browse the web, email, word process, and other SIMPLE things (THIS IS NOT A HIGH END MACHINE, IT IS $200, LESS THAN THE COST OF MANY SMART PHONES!!!). It also has an HDMI port which makes it a great media center if you want to stream videos to your tv. If you are looking for a simple machine to use as a media center with your tv or just to browse the web for you or maybe your children, this is a great option for the money. Do not write bad reveiws about something because it doesnt fit your processing needs, that is your own fault for buying it.

I really only have two gripes. The amount of junk-ware on this box is unbelievable. I've gone about disabling everything through msconfig and the box is running considerably better now. I'm still considering, as others here have suggested, wiping the box and installing a clean OS. My biggest problem, and I haven't seen this mentioned here, is with the behavior of the HDMI port. I purchased this as a media machine for my entertainment system. For the most part it has worked quite well in that role for streaming content off Netflix, Hulu, photo shows etc. However, I'm running the HDMI port through my home theater system, and when I switch to another HDMI device, the Acer turns off its HDMI port and switches video back to the VGA port. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get it to permanently default to the HDMI port I would really appreciate it. There's a good vid on YouTube on how to open the box to add more memory or change the hard drive. Just search for "Acer Revo Memory" it should pop up as the first vid.

Recently purchased a 40" Sony Bravia, and when I saw it had a VGA hook up for a computer I was excited to plug in my extra pc to the TV. Well lets just say that a 7 year old computer didn't look or run as smooth as I wanted it to with the new TV. I already have a super fast pc for personal use... I just needed something for web browsing & for my music & video collection, so I went shopping for something cheap and found this. Not a fan of the speed, the fact that there is no CD-rom and it runs on Windows XP, BUT for the price of $199.99, (plus +50 for a DVDrw), I believe it's a good buy. My actual rating for it would've been a 3 but because it is sooo cheap, and I am able to use it on my HDTV, I gave it 4. I didn't need anything major to begin with anyway. By the way, if you're someone like me that is just looking to hook it up to your tv, for me, the Toshiba 8x External Portable & the Logitech S520 Cordless Desktop is a perfect match for it.

bought this as a replacement pc for my daughter. She's ten, but the machine she was using was about 5 or 6 years old. A couple of things you'll want to do when you get this little gem. 1. Update the Nvidia ION drivers to the latest 2. Get the latest 10.1 or higher adobe flash player (in beta when I got it). 3. Upgrade the memory from 1 gig to 2 +25$ or more (supports 4 gigs +$100), and change the video setting in the cmos to 256 gigs or higher (512 if you installed the 4 gigs). The new Adobe flash player 10.1 makes use of the hardware for displaying movies (think Hulu, and YouTube), but you need the latest nvidia drivers. I also added an external DVD drive for about 30$. She playes Spore, and some flash games from Facebook, as well as Sims 2 just fine. If you get an external BlueRay disk player, or play MKV movies from the harddrive, this would make a nice entertainment center piece (does 1080p via hdmi). (Netflix streaming :).

Read reviews! Hulu is flash. Flash requires a system that can decode quickly. This system is not quite ready for the current state of Flash, however, reports are saying 2010 Flash will run smoothly on this system. again, read reviews, before you buy. There is a lot of information on the internet about the AspireRevo and Hulu. Read read read. As far as using it to stream video files from other sources, it works just fine and dandy. But don't be surprised when Flash content doesn't run smoothly...as it's reported all over the internet that the AspireRevo can't handle Flash in it's current state. Now, don't buy this, go home, hook it up and complain that Hulu is choppy. Slap some video files on it, play them at a 1080 resolution and be happy. Jeez, in these economic times, review, review, review, consider if you need it, review, review, review, THEN buy or pass.

    Nice tiny and inexpensive computer

Computer was simple to setup and works fine--certainly well worth the price. Had I read the spec better I'd have realized it didn't have wireless networking, but it caught me offguard. Also, there was no display model at the store, so I was also surprised to get a keyboard with no keypad--it is basically the keyboard you'd find on a small laptop/netbook--arrow keys squeezed in on the edges, and the keypad overlayed on the regular keys. I have spare full size keyboards, but none are USB and this doesn't have PS/2 style keyboard and mouse inputs. Main purpose was for my son to play older games, so I don't have lots of junk clogging up the main computer. It works fine for that and has a video card that can handle those with 3d just fine. But need to get a better keyboard--hard for him to work the controls on some of the games without keys in the usual positions.

The strong sides of this PC are: 1. Powerful intel-ion platform with Nvidia graphics chipset. 2. HDMI output with 1080p resolution 3. Compact and small foot print design 4. Awesome 6 nos USB ports and 1 no. external SATA port. Enough for any practical purpose. 5. Perfect candidate for making home theater PC 6. Built-in memory card reader Downsides: 1. Plasticky looks 2. comes with only wired KB and mouse. (not wireless) 3. no CD/DVD drive (not even as an external accessory) 4. XP installation has a recovery partition. But the recovery partition does not get backed up when user creates his own recovery DVDs. I bought this for use as my home theater PC. Running XBMC media center live CD. Runs perfectly and can play any media format (Yes, I mean any..!). The output is in 1080p resolution with native 1080p and up conversion.

I needed a simple computer to work with my LCD TV/Media Center. Not a gamer so my needs were really quite basic and after reading and looking at lots of options I chose the Acer. Hooked it up, added a wireless USB adapter, mouse and keyboard and it all works just as I had intended and hoped it would. Has plenty of access points without needing an optical disc drive, all the speed and memory I require, and a more than adequate audio/video card. No complaints, it would be nice if it came with wireless controllers (keyboard and mouse) as they really are necessary for me and many other users. Why is there not a reasonably priced small wireless keyboard with built in pad/ball on the market? Have I just missed it in all my searches? THAT would have made this product PERFECT. As it is, it is merely GREAT!

I plugged it in..it worked right away..like any new PC, I had to run Windows update like 6 times to load all of the updates..thats not any different than any other system..just be ready for the time. Plugged it into an old monitor and it worked right away. I'm usiing it for my 5 and 7 year olds. It works fine for them. No problems at all. Good for the money. Can't expand it and the video processing might be a bit slow as sometimes streaming video is a bit choppy..just a bit and only sometimes. I happy with the purchase. If they had still had another model that was a full PC with 3 gig of memory that was a left over from last year that they were trying to get rid of, I'd recommend that. it would have been worth the extra $50 over the $199 I paid.

Very nice device as long as you have an external CD Rom around to load software, etc. It is sufficiently powerful to run HD such as MetPlayer, and all common Works, Word Etc. Only complaint is the Works 9.0 is a "add" version that forces you to watch adds. There is an additional fee to get the nonadd version. Keyboard actually nice, although obviously not expensive. This runs Windows XP which is still the standard in business. Otherwise, you have to pay extra to get the Windows 7 Professional which contains XP. BUt why pay an extra $90 for that when you can get the whole computer here for only $200! If you want more powerful versions of the same computer they are available from other retailers.

This is a great pc when using it as an internet web browser and word processor. It even plays back internet video. I did install boxee TV media software and it works great. I was able to install Windows 7 ultimate via the USB thumb drive, and it works fine. The only driver issue I have has to do with the CPU. It works fine anyways, however some software will think that it has the AMD cpu. Adobe Flash 10 does run, but it is CPU Intensive and runs slower that normal. My overall experience with this low end computer is great. I am able to use the latest software and media experience is sufficient. HDMI video makes it great to work with my 42" Vizio LCD TV in 1080P mode.

I bought this for TV to go to network web sites and watch episodes of shows I miss... and to check out other sites for movies, etc... I didn't read any of the directions when I first set it up... Monkeyed with it for ages because I couldn't get sound from HDMI like other reviewers... Finally found the right settings... Next day I saw in instruction sheet how to do it! I had to hook it up with ethernet at first so I could download my wireless adapter driver... The shows all played beautifuuly that way... But when I moved it to TV and used wireless.. It wasn't as great... I have it a little too far from router and signal strength is good not excellent...

If your looking for a computer to plug your cable modem into, and your wireless router, so it has to stay on all the time this is your computer, it has some memory, so you could use it as a word processor as well, but with no wifi capabilty, or bluetooth, you'll run out of USB ports quickly, it only has five, so you figure modem, keyboard, mouse, and router, it leaves you one port for flash drives or external cd rom, which usually uses two. So as far as using it as a full blown desktop, you can forget it. Using it for perusing the internet...and that's about it, it's more than sufficient.

It's a great little machine.. if you want to surf the net or just do email, no better... but I bought it for a home theater and it just doesn't have the muscle. I dropped another 2GB of memory in so it had 3GB but the issue was CPU. It couldn't play my video stream from my slingbox without choking... So my boy got a new PC instead. Great for him. All around it's solid... No CD but who needs them anymore. I map a network drive to another PC if I need one.... Price is great, power is a little low but great for daily general use.

I purchased the computer for my Grandmother, who's 1997 computer finally quit. It's perfect. It boots up quickly, no extraneous programs clogging it up. Web surfing and E-mail are quick. It has a big memory and does everything she's looking for. It only comes with basic Microsoft Works (who uses that?) so I had to load an old version of Office on the computer using an external CDrom I had to buy ($15). Once that was on there, it's the perfect computer sor someone who just want's to do email, web surf and write letters.

I needed a computer to monitor just one webpage on a big screen TV and really nothing else. Most, even very basic computers came with a lot more than was needed and the corresponding cost. Then I found this little box which looks more like a router than a computer and the cost was under $200.00. It even has an optional bracket to mount it to the back of a flat screen TV. It is really great for the online TV watcher, just add a wireless network connection and a wireless mouse and your ready for hours of Hulu watching.

I have this box, and added 2GB of RAM to the device (easy to do!) It performs great, and serves the purpose it was designed for: light usage and internet browsing. Its biggest downfall is poor Flash performance, and thus stuttering Hulu and other streaming content; however, Flash v10.1 will fix this by allowing for CUDA processing, which Atom systems using the GMA video won't be able to garner. This is a great stepping stone to the Pine Trail systems coming later.

Had to purchase Wireless / USB Dongle, not a big deal, just would have like the computer to have wireless. I use it for netflix streaming, works amazing via HDMI with my 47" LG LCD. Also; would have liked Windows 7 installed, it doesnt qualify for the free windows 7 upgrade. I thought I'd have to upgrade the Ram, but seems to function just fine with the 1GB. Our neighbors came over & they're getting one this week for the same thing.

a nice basic piece of equipment, but at a great price. very compact as you can tell, lots of ports. decent performance for light to medium tasks. would greatly benefit from 2 gig ram minimum. the mcafee software really dragged down the performance. replaced with another similar software with good results. too much junk software that were really asking for upgrades and $ - those were quickly deleted. all-in-all, i am quite satisfied.

This product is very great because of its nvidia graphics card which means you could play full 1080 p on it and games. The keyboard is ok but i wish that they gave all of their revo models a wireless keyboard and mouse. I opened it and set it up very quicky to test it and it plays games with few lag. ( only if you don't run any other programs and have fast internet). its a nice computer and im glad that it has a HDMI port included.
