Powerhouse chromebook
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Chromebooks were once known as the entry level laptop for kids that were not known to have much computing power however times have changed on the Chromebook horizon. The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE is a 16 inch Chromebook that features an Intel 5 Core 5 processor with 8 gb of LPDDR4X ram and a 256 gb SSD. I remember my first Chromebook that had 16 gb of storage with the option to expand it via the SD card slot. The 16 inch LED WQXGA features a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Chromebook also features a full size HDMI port as well as a RJ45 Ethernet Lan port. It also has 2 usb c ports as well as full sized usb port. Battery life is rated at 10 hours and I confidently say that you can expect 10 hours with normal daily use. The Chromebook is quite large at 16 inches and weighs 3.81 lbs so it is not the mot portable Chromebook however that can't be expected with such a capable device. Wifi connectivity is quite fast as it can connect to the latest Wi-fi 6e routers. The Chromebook also features a RGB anti ghosting keyboard that can be used for cloud based gaming if desired. This Chromebook features a fast start up time and google promises many years of security updates. I set this Chromebook up for my son to use for school and gaming and he has nothing but good things to say about it.

It's the second one I bought & this one the screen does not shut off when its closed even though I have it set to sleep when closed. I've heard the battery warning as its about to die after being closed for a while. What is going on here?

If your Chromebook Plus isn't going into sleep mode when you close the lid, ensure that the "Sleep when lid is closed" setting is enabled in your Chromebook's power settings. You can find this setting in Settings > Device > Power. Also, check if there are any other peripherals connected that might be interfering with the sleep function, and try disabling Bluetooth or disconnecting them. If this does not resolve the issue please contact our support team at 866-695-2237; they are available to assist 24/7 for in-warranty products.
