The Spin 312 delivers outstanding performance, specifications, build quality, and versatility for the price, making it an exceptional value, particularly when purchased on sale. While its weight and the fact that it doesn't maximize the screen size are minor drawbacks. Its robust build and excellent screen quality are worthwhile trade-offs for the shortcomings.

I have purchased and returned quite a few devices trying to find what better fits my needs for my graduate schooling. I was looking for a Chromebook (as I absolutely love the clean interface and affordability), compact and lightweight, in size with a long lasting battery. If possible, cost allowing was hoping to find a back-lit keyboard and silver/black in color as perks, but not deal breakers. When I saw this device it kinda fit the bill but not quite.. for the price point this just didn't cut it for me. The screen graphics and the sound were okay, at best. The bezels are thick and despite its 12.2" screen size the device itself is clunky and thick (which was the main deterrent for me). The laptop in its entirety has a very cheap look and feel, very plastic-like. The keys are loud when stroked. The battery, at least to me, went quicker than past Chromebooks I have owned.

This is my first Chromebook, and I have to say I'm impressed with the value for the money. I bought it on sale for $299, normally $449. My previous computer is a MS Surface Pro that recently warned me about Windows 10 going out of support and whose battery has seen better days. This Chromebook can do everything I need from a home computer and has been a breeze to connect to my monitor and printer/scanner using a USB hub/dock. I like using the 2-in-1 flip around mode for perusing the news in portrait orientation. So far no complaints at all; the only thing I would add would be a built-in SD card slot to eliminate the need for other removable storage.

I wanted a Chromebook. I did my do diligence and looked for one that had at least 12 hours of screen time, had excellent speed, was light weight for travel, and had a quality display. For the money, this one had the best reviews. It has proven to live up to the hype. I highly recommend this Chromebook.

I got this because of the chip and the overall size factor. The chip is very good and pages loaded quickly. However, the build quality and screen was just OK, it felt chunky and heavier than it is, screen was dimmer than expected, and the bezels were a throwback to much older Chromebooks. I got it on "sale" (seems to always be on sale) and could not ever image paying the full price for this. I struggled to find value at the sale price. Not sure why the chromebook market is so limited, especially for 14 inch screens and under with at least 8 gb RAM. After many years of being a heavy chromebook user, I switched to M4 Mac Air - 16 GB ram, super fast and really not much more on current sale than so called high end chromebooks with inferior hardware. Let's just say I am thrilled with the switch and love the Mac Air.

The Chromebook does not work like a Windows laptop. It does not used Word or Excel the same way. You have to use CLOUD storage for everything and it has to transfer all files back and forth from the Chromebook to the CLOUD and vice versa. It's SO awkward to use and frustrating. All companies should STOP making Chromebooks.

      Dear FRITZIT,
Chromebooks are different from Windows laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on-board storage but they also are not expensive either. Chromebooks run off apps like an Android phone or tablet so you cannot download and install applications or .exe files. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better. If you have questions on using your Chromebook please contact our support team at 1-866-695-2237, chat or social media, and we will be glad to help.
