I read the reviews of people complaining about the sound and all that....let me chime in. I have been playing on this thing daily for a month now. I have LINUX installed as well as the Chrome OS without dual booting. I usually have at least 10 tabs open, a linux terminal open, wireshark running, watching YouTube, and email app all open at the same time WITHOUT any noticeable slowdown in the performance of the machine. It has taken some getting use to with the F1-F12 buttons being the alternate to others as well and no caps lock...but all of these are easily used if you know the alt+key to use...alt+search button=caps lock. Other than that I don't need a $1,000 machine to do what I want as this one does a pretty good job and doesn't stress...the fan has only come on once while installing the new linux and with as much as I push this machine my other Windows machine would be on non-stop! I have taken the machine into developer mode played with another version of linux and then went back to plain ol Chrome OS with the built in linux. This required completely wiping the machine to go to developer mode and again when going back to Chrome OS, all without a hiccup. I can't say enough good about this machine. The hinges are great quality. I don't mind them being stiff like they are as the screen doesn't move when I type. It stays put in any position from open 1mm to fully open 360*. I don't want to lift a laptop lid with one finger...it needs to stay shut till I open it. The keyboard is of the upmost highest quality! I also use this with Samsung messenger app so I don't have to pick up my phone to text someone and all incoming messages appear right here on my screen like an incoming email. I have even played battle royal games in tablet mode....way better than on the phone! This did cause the battery to drain a little faster but who cares I have a huge screen to play on! The machine did get a little warm but not enough to make the fan come on....but I also had a lot of other apps/programs running in the background. I push this machine and it's nowhere near its limits. I would definitely buy this machine again and again.

This is my 3rd Chromebook, and 1st Acer. #1 I started cheap to see what they were like. #2 was very good, purchased this summer. Specs were good but not great. Then I saw a review on this one and did my research. Reviewer that I follow a lot said in Nov. it's the best overall Chromebook for 2020. So I had to get this and, at this price, glad I did. The specs compare with others a lot more expensive. This 10th GEN i5 processor with 8 GB memory and 128 SSD flies. Screen is great, first time with 3:2 ratio and I like it a lot. Very bright at 400+ nits. Lots of people knock the speakers but they are plenty loud for me. Not much base but if you want to listen to music while using this, bluetooth earbuds work great. Google updates thru 2028 so I can see me having this for a long time. I highly recommend this Chromebook. I picked it up for $549 on sale at Best Buy but would have paid the full $629. I see it's $549 again today so go grab one.

My First Upgrade From Low-Cost Chromebooks

I have been using Chromebooks for nine years, and, as a non-technical Senior Boomer, I like the ease of use. But, as my age has impaired my volunteer activities in "the field" I find myself spending far more hours doing what I am able to do with my Chromebook. This ACER Spin 713 gives me the speed, power, and memory to accomplish my volunteer work. Build quality is apparent and I love the feel of both the keyboard and touchpad. This is my first touch-screen, and I find using it to read the mountain of white papers and essays, as well as ebooks, in the tablet mode very comfortable. I don't watch television and rely on my computer for entertainment. The picture quality of the screen, to my eyes, is excellent. However, this brought to light my only negative about this product. Woefully inadequate speakers. I wish I knew why the engineers put the speakers on the bottom. Especially when installing speakers that have poor volume. I solved the problem by listening to music, movies, and TV series through an old Oontz Bluetooth speaker set. If I had to put a letter grade on this Spin 713 it would be an A-.

This is an excellent Chromebook. I have been using Chromebooks for years and! was coming from a Samsung Chromebook Pro which was a very nice machine. This Acer is so much better - much faster, great screen, lit keyboard, good battery life, compact. The extra RAM and i5 do a great job. Nice job Acer

I bought this Spin 713 to replace a 2013 pixel chromebook which no longer was supported in updates. I would rate this 2-in-1 as equal or better overall to that. The touchscreen display and trackpad are Gorilla Glass and are very responsive to tracking and gestures. Battery life is very good, built in speakers are inferior, but bluetooth and wired headphone sound is outstanding. It's nice to have a cooling fan, although I haven't heard it , it keeps this unit much cooler than the pixelbook. The screen is the star of this show with 2k resolution and very good brightness. All in all this is a tough but attractive chromebook that is well worth the money.

    Huge improvement for remote learning

We got two of these for our kids, who have been doing remote learning since the Spring. They each had a standard public school issue chromebook, and bluntly - they were not impressive. An old Dell 3189 and a Samsung Chromebook 3. Basically, it was pretty miserable as their primary school driver. So we picked these up for them. HUGE improvement. It was literally the difference between the old machines allowing 3-4 tabs with lag and little beyond that, vs these new ones having 20+ tabs with no lag at all. Plus, since they're our personal devices, we were able to configure personal accounts for them - meaning games, music creation, and art/animation. This also lead to buying a USI stylus for it, which also performs very well. Basically, we're expecting these machines to be the kids primary device up into high school/college. Screamingly fast, easy to use, and with lots of niceties.

For the money, this is perhaps the best laptop I have purchased in the last 5 years! So versatile, yet very inexpensive. Sturdy, yet light enough to tack on the go. Lots of ports! Great screen! Excellent battery. One nock: the speakers are not good, but I use earbuds most of the time. I may purchase a second one

Excellent Chromebook! Quality for the price is outstanding! Performance is great, battery life is great, Two cons are speakers are total crap as almost everyone mentions and it is a little bulky if coming from a tablet. Still, for the price on sale, it is a great value.

I got this for my high school son who opted for a chromebook instead of a PC. He wanted something with a decent display. This one has one of the best, if not the best, in its price range. The 10th gen core i5 is more than enough power to handle multiple tabs. I even told him that I'm taking it over when he's done. He told me he's taking it to college (in three years) so we'll see. I'm glad I got it when it did as it's no longer in stock. If it is, the price is jacked way up given the demand. The only downside is that he reports and that I've witnessed first-hand is the paltry speakers. It's an easy workaround to use headphones or a BT speaker but it's a workaround nevertheless. This is that good that I couldn't justify taking a full star off. Whoever snagged this at $529...kudos on getting the deal of the year.

This Chromebook is great. The screen looks good for the price range and the computer has great external build quality. The processor and RAM are solid performers with ChromeOS. The screen aspect ratio (3:2) gives more usable screen real estate when writing or reading. It makes the device look bigger though. The only major downside is the WiFi modem. It overheats with extended use (e.g., Zoom) and causes crashes. This was fixed by purchasing an USB-C Ethernet adapter and using Ethernet most of the time. This solved the connectivity issues. The WiFi usable for most light use, it's just extended and heavier use that causes problems.

This was a gift for my son who is a computer science major. That means my wife and I had to carefully research and review Cromebooks in the market for a device that will impress and meet his needs. This Chromebook from Acer truly hit the spot, he was impressed with the specs and the performance of the device. It comes with an U-Series processor and NVMe storage which I read makes this device faster. It has 8 GB DDR4 and the video quality is very nice. We have not heard of any issues with the device from our son He is using all the time. The reviews were correct about the Cromebook in comparison to other in the same price range, this one is the best.

Stop looking ,this is it. The best value and quality Chromebook you will find. Only the Samsung galaxy comes in comparison to this Chromebook on quality but the the Acer 713 is the smarter pick. The massive super beautiful screen is top notch, its not 4k like the Samsung but trust me the Acer will meet your satisfaction by far plus its unusual square shape just gives it a overall full experience compared to the widescreen on the galaxy. Pair a beautiful full res.screen up with the i5 10gen processor its a perfect marriage . as in all other reviews you will read the speakers are just OK and thats it on the speakers but simply pair up your own Bluetooth external speaker or headphones and problem solved so dont let the speakers be a deal breaker. Again if your looking for the best premium Chromebook look no further.

This is a fantastic laptop for the price. My last laptop was a Samsung Chromebook Pro and this runs circles around that one. The key caps have a great feel and action. It does have a system fan, which very occasionally makes a little noise - mostly at startup - but otherwise is very quiet. The screen size and clarity are both perfect for the work I do and I can easily work remotely all day on a single charge. I can run multiple browser tabs and apps without any noticeable slowdown. After 3 months of use, I have one keycap that occasionally makes the slightest noise but, otherwise, the laptop still runs just like new! The styling may not be the most cutting-edge but the performance makes up for any shortfalls in appearance. Acer did a great job of putting the value in the components that count!

Was going back and forth between this and the Pixelbook Go. Ended up going with the Acer due to the screen quality and performance advantages. Have the 3:2 aspect ratio is very nice and the brightness level on this panel is great. Everything seems more vibrant when compared to the Pixelbook. Only negatives I’ve found have been the speakers, and the edges of the back of the screen can be sharp against your legs depending how you are sitting. Overall this machine handles chrome, android apps and Linux apps with ease, but has just a few quality of life downgrades versus the competition. Have felt the machine has lived up to the hype.

The chromebook has a great screen and the picture is better than my last for sure. Speed is fast and responsive. The weight seems heavy but my 7 yr old HP is so much heavier on a side by side comp. My only complaint would be exterior fit and finish. Its got sharp corners, I prefer a more comfortable to the touch rounded corner and when I go to lift this up off a surface I almost always need two hands due to not being able to get a finger under the edge when I lift. When you go to lift it just slides forcing you to grab it with both hands.

There's not too much I can add that hasn't already been said about this incredible Chromebook from Acer. Read the glowing reviews on various PC websites, Google it, and you'll soon understand that it just cannot be beat in terms of value, performance, build quality, image quality, etc, etc. This thing is SCREAMING fast and I have not been able to slow it down at all? Opening the lid from completely powered down and mine is fully ready to surf the web or do whatever I want in 2 seconds tops! I had just bought a windows laptop from Lenovo that kept freezing up on me & I dang near threw it away. Wound up giving it to a family member. I DID NOT WANT THAT HEADACHE!!! I actually considered a Chromebook, but was thinking that I had to have Windows? For me, I did not. Sure there are things that you cannot do with a Chromebook that you can with a windows laptop. But Google has perfected the Chromebook at this point and it is now in its 10th year this year! Honestly, there's not too much that you cannot do with one now. This model has a solid aluminum case that is built to military specs as far as durability and able to withstand some fairly hard knocks. It can be charged from either side AND has an HDMI output, rare on Chromebook! The keyboard is solid as well as the track pad. The screen is Gorilla Glass 6 (Antimicrobial no less!) and the track pad is Gorilla Glass too. And, from what i have read, you can indeed change out the SSD drive for more storage. That makes it an OUTSTANDING value! I could go on and on, but one last thing. It is not a 16.9 widescreen, rather a standard 3.2 , or square screen. I actually love this as you have less scrolling to do reading web pages and documents. I hope this helps you make an informed decision! Think u will love it!! Plus you can catch it on sale as I did on Best Buy for $529.00! Even at full price it is still a fantastic buy!!! Cheers!

Great Chromebook. 8 gig, 128gb SSD, 13.5 inch screen. Everything you need to do on a Chromebook, you can. The 2 and 1 feature with a touch screen and a backlight keypad make it perfect. I get a solid 9 hours battery life or 12 if you turn brightness down to 60 percent. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I ordered on line, and received my Chromebook with in 2 days.

This is my 4th Chromebook and each one has gotten a little better, smoother and faster. I use this as my daily work machine and it has been awesome. The 4 GB of ram are enough to handle video calls, a second monitor and TONS of tabs. Speakers are average for a Chrombook (read...not that great), but they aren't the worst. Camera is a little washed out, but all-in-all I don't think you can find a better bang for your buck than this Chromebook.

Let's get this out of the way first. This Chromebook is amazing. The only knock I have on it is the Speakers. They are atrocious. 2nd is I just wish the build had more pizzazz. With that out of the way, this is a very power Chromebook. The screen is gorgeous and this thing flies. I just could not get passed the speakers. That's it.
