As expected, but more complete
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thinking this was "yet ANOTHER Android tablet," I really didn't expect much over an older unit, other than better performance. My first impression was one of surprise at how light this tablet is. I've had a few that quickly reminded me not to hold them up, but this one felt like they had forgotten to include a battery. Nice. My second impression was one of annoyance, as a major system software update took about an hour. Then a series of "nods": yeah, decent (sometimes impressive) performance, surprisingly long battery life, even when leaving WiFi on, and better-than-average audio. Of course, leaving WiFi on for several days will drain the battery. The biggest surprises were the number of holes filled by this unit: My previous Android tablet boasted the ability to play HD videos, but the audio was on par with an old transistor radio. This Iconia actually has stereo speakers that, while very small, still deliver reasonable sound for a handheld device. A MicroSD card slot is always welcome; something Apple still hasn't learned. It's a frustrating exercise to get the little card in the spring-loaded slot; in retrospect, it probably looked pretty amusing to have the tiny thing fly across the room several times as I tried to push it in far enough to *click*, especially with large fingers. I'll just leave it in there. It was nice to be presented with a choice of formats for the card: "portable" (compatible with other devices - nice for transferring hefty quantities of data) or some native format that presumably would look like larger capacity storage. The Iconia sports front and rear cameras to facilitate video communication, such as with Skype. I wasn't super impressed with the camera, though the HDR setting helped a lot. It would be nice to have a flash also. Overall, the Iconia is a competent and very usable tablet, one that I will actually find worth taking travelling.

Great tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent out shines my Samsung by alot. Love the dual speakers at the sides, when horizontal. The latest version of Android better than the last. Google fetched all my apps from my other devices so I didn't have too. Superb made a new device just like I had it for months in the first few hours. Love it thanks goes out to my Wife for suggesting it and purchasing it.

insufficent memory
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box after initial setup with just the factory apps on it 64% of the memory was used all I have to do is run twitter for a minute or two and the app crashes because the memory used is up close to 90%. I found out the hard way that you need more than 1g of memory to run Marshmellow. My wife has a tablet with android 4.4 and 1g of memory and it runs just fine...

inexpensive basic tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Comparison with Apple tablets would not be fair due to a huge cost difference. But if you not ready to pay more than $100 for tablet, this device will do just fine. I bought it for watching Netflix, checking e-mails and reading news. Display is nice size but quality is way below today's standards. Processor could be faster but in general - Android OS works fine.
