If you're looking for a high end multimedia tablet or gaming Android tablet. This is not it. However, if you're looking for a tablet that can run most of the applications in the Google play store, watch the occasional movie through Netflix or Kody, and have plenty enough screen real estate to be able to easily view, this is an exceptional buy. I have several Windows and Android tablets, and would not hesitate to recommend this device to someone looking for an entry level tablet.

I was looking for an inexpensive tablet for casual browsing and movie viewing. Originally purchased Intel-based Insignia 8" tablet, but was disappointed with faulty WiFi and frequent reboots. This one is fairly stable and connects to 5GHz router frequencies. Video is clear, audio is above fair. Processing speed is acceptable only based on price. This unit is best for a backup tablet or something simple. I wouldn't recommend if you're using it for presentations or heavy app's.

To be honest, I generally don't have anything against a plastic-y body on a tablet. Sure, it might look cheaper, but it's usually pretty light. That's the case here. This Acer tablet, despite being a 10-in tablet is very light. The screen is good (though there's a bit of inconsistent lighting around the edges) and the sound is decent. Design-wise, though, I was a bit disappointed. The rear camera is enclosed in a little chrome-looking (but plastic) pop-out which also covers the micro sd card slot and an extra micro-usb port for data. This is a nice addition, but I consider the pop-out to be a real problem when it comes to finding a case to put your tablet in for protection. I did not like this design choice at all.
Spec-wise, the tablet is solid. I downloaded a few rather graphics-intensive games and with only a couple of hiccups, they all ran well. The resolution is not going to blow your skirt up, but it's also not going to make you cry--you'll have no trouble reading your ebooks or watching HD movies. I'm pleased with the performance. Battery life is solid and wi-fi connected well right away and stays fast and consistent.
Speaking of movies--I do like the "widescreen"-y-ness of this tablet... however this too might make it difficult to find a third party case or cover that will fit, as the aspect ratio is a little off from the norm.
Overall, this is a good budget choice, but if you're looking for something a little more high end in terms of materials, keep looking. For example, when first opening the box, the plastic smell was overwhelming! It went away after a few hours, but I've never smelled that kind of plastic aroma from an electronics product before! Very surprising and seemingly reflective of the materials used either in packaging or production.

Few things to notice about this tablet. First it is a good size for all your viewing needs (video, games, etc). Second it does come with Android 6.0 and when I got mine it was ready for next patch. Works well in most cases and falls short in others. I will break it down for you.
GOOD:
size, weight, case (slightly grippy), screen brightness, camera, 32gb storage, expandable storage via micro sd card, button location, blue filter, wifi speed (when it works), bloatware can be turned off or disabled, battery life, simple charging port, and newest OS with many options to tweak.
BAD:
drops wifi strength quite often, brightness is still too high even when all the way down, refresh is slow when changing pages or closing apps, apps failed many times until it is rebooted, rebooting takes a long time to turn back on, touch is not as sensitive and may require multiple touches to register, screen seems to have slight matte finish which makes it hard to drag finger across sometimes, Only has 1gb on board memory, and lastly, not all volume settings work across the board (video, app, system sounds each set inside each app and not all around).
The UGLY:
no case found for this yet, slight light bleed around screen, wants you to set up back-up/accounts all the time, and stand it comes with only really holds it in landscape position.
So all in all it is a good for a tablet if you are not asking too much from it at one time. With a good screen size and lots of storage space and expandable storage, it would be a good first tablet for general use or for kids using learning programs. I would expect more ram on a newer unit with the higher end games and videos out there, but at this price you get a fully function tablet with some exceptions to put it in the high-low end genre.

This product had the best reviews of the low end tablets. Not super fast, but fast enough. One drawback to me is not being able to play some computer games because "Flash" is not available for this device. This is not my primary computer so I'm not expecting to do a lot of productive work on it. I wanted it to make notes for my genealogical research at libraries and for reading downloaded books. And for both of those purposes, it works very well.

Bought 3 of these tablets for my husband. The size is great for us older folks so that the print can be large enough to make it easier for us to read. The games he plays are working perfectly. Have only had it for a few days but so far everything works just great. Had purchased a different brand for him last year that would not play Game of War - kept crashing or just shutting off, so I was a bit skeptical. But he just loves this tablet.

I loved this tablet when I first got it. After having for 2 weeks it started overheating and would turn itself off. I never charged it while using it. Had to take it back and was told it couldn't be fixed. They wouldn"t be getting anymore so I to purchase a different brand. Too bad because it was perfect size for traveling. Took great pictures.

This was my 1st time purchasing an Acer Tablet because it was not a bad price. BUT... Here is the CON of this product... is watching youtube video, the picture is not so clear (look like some kind of interference if you watch TV you usually get it) Sound is like listening to read along audio. Not a sound you expected if you was listening to music or movie. While looking for ways to take control of device itself, it has no feature where I can take control. It has plenty of app that most people like myself have no interests in it. PRO - It's for small kids from K - 5th grade!!! Great for them to learn as starter. Teenager and Adult, get a Sony or Samsung tablet!!! These 2 tablets have way better features and very clear sounds and video! I have own these 2 and still do. Just want to test out some good deal with Acer tablet. Sony and Samsung can be expensive, but it is worth it! Acer needs to find a way to fix their problem on this tablet. Not so happy with it.

Good buy for the price. Works well as long as you don't load it up with apps that do a lot of monitoring and deliver info/ads, then it becomes unbearably slow. Load apps one at a time and use the tablet, and you'll easily see which ones slow it down. It has 1G system memory and the apps that I do want/need use 100%. I've read that systems that have 2G system memory will perform a whole lot better when you load up the apps.

I have several tablets, and I pretty much only use this one for when my granddaughter is over. She loves watching movies on Netflix. My only issue is that with this tablet, I get pop up adds. It doesn't matter if I'm using the internet browser, or watching a movie through the Netflix app. The pop-ups will disrupt the movie and I will have to shut down the pop-up in order to allow my granddaughter to continue with her movie. I do not have this issue on any of my other tablets, only my Acer tablet.

Not bad for the money, but set your expectations

First, let me start off that you have to set the proper expectations. This is an entry level tablet that is 1/3rd the price of an Ipad. Once you set those expectations, you do get a lot for your money. It is a perfectly functional tablet, just not in the same class of the more expensive tablets. The reality is if this came out 5 years ago, this would have been a super star. Let’s review aspects of the tablet -
Screen -
As with most models in this segment. You get a 10 inch screen that is 1280 x 800. It is Gorilla Glass 4 so it is tough but that is one generation behind. The screen does pick up a lot of glare and finger prints. There is some type of coating but it does not seem to help. In terms of brightness, this tablet really can only be used indoors. I compared it to my Surface and IPad and it is not even close. For web browsing and youtube indoors, it is fine. The colors are okay, not quite popping as today’s cell phones but it does a decent job in replicating skins tones in movies. It’s black levels are a bit grey and washed out. The sharpness is not quite there, you can definitely see a loss in detail in some movies and there is some judder/pixelation on fast moving scenes. Not sure if that should be under performance or the screen category.
Battery and charging -
This does charge slowly when charging from a completely depleted battery. I drained down the battery completely and it charged to 11% after 30 minutes. To me, that is very slow. However, once you have it charged up, the battery life is surprisingly good. With the wifi on and internet usage including occasional youtube, I got about 10 hours. It is hard to give an exact number of hours but it was over two days and was very good. I kept track of the time and it was over 10 hours. One thing I did notice is it does get a bit hot when you are running it for a while . It is not too hot but definitely more than I expected.
Performance -
Before I get into the overall performance, the start up from a complete shut down is slow . After several tries, it averaged about 48 seconds. I am not going to go over the specs of the processor, ram etc, you can look that up since it is the real world performance that counts. To be honest, I expected worse. There is some hesitation in games and multitasking but it held it’s own for the most part.Games that are more graphic intensive will not perform well or at all so stick to the basic games. I want to remind you of what I first wrote, set the proper expectations and the tablet will do what it was designed to do. Expect a Ipad or Samsung Galaxy tablet performance and you will be dissappointed.
Speakers-
The speakers are not Iconia One 10’s strongest features. The volume is moderately loud but the speakers just sound tinny at the highest volumes and the bass sounds garbled. Movies via youtube were okay but songs were not. Playing Bohemia Rhapsody by Queen became annoyingly tinny. Use head phones or external speaker if you want better quality.
Cameras -
There is a front and rear camera. I did not expect much here and that is exactly what I got. The front camera renders inconsistent pictures and is severly affected by light levels. The rear facing camera is a bit more capable, equivalent to an Iphone 4S. Not great but it works. In reality, I never had much need for cameras on a tablet .
Overall contruction and quality -
The Acer Iconia One 10 is nice looking and solid. The back is all white plastic and the screen border is white as well. It is reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy 5 in all white. There is a micro sd slot to expand the memory , a nice touch on a tablet at this price point. It does not feel too heavy but is definitely on the thicker side. For reference I would put is 50% heavier and thicker than an Ipad. I do not want it to sound like it is too big or heavy, just bigger than what you might expect. There is some flex in the back cover but it still feels solid in most respects. Quality overall is decent, especially when you consider the price. Acer definitely has their manufacturing process down and it is showing here.
Software -
I am not going to review the Android version since it is ubiguitious at this point. Acer does pre-load the Microsoft Office suite, several games, eBay app , Hulu and more. They do not take up too much space.
So is this the tablet you have yearning for – probably not. Is this the tablet that is a great value and a decent feature set - absolutely. I see this as a secondary tablet or something you can give your kid and not worry about breaking the bank. It is not the worst out there but for a few more bucks you can get a better tablet. If there is any market segment this would be good for it is the 10 to 14 year olds. There is even pre-loaded software called the Kid's center that I think the younger kids would love. Overall, I would recommend it for that segment but not as much for adults.

The camera on tablet takes pictures from both sides. Takes awesome pictures. The speed is awful. Too many apps, ads, and what ever else seams to be running at the same time. Almost using all of the speed. I have yet to figure out how to shut them off. Just easier to use my 7" tablet I thought would not charge. It is now charging.

After trying different tablets for my daughter I decided to try the Acer Iconia One 10,it works very good,it's bigger than regular tablets and the price is reasonable. The only complaint about this tablet is the charger port,I had to send it to repair because it stopped charging, but in general it's a good device. I have two daughters and they both have the same tablet with the same issue.

I went in to find a reasonably priced tablet and this one was it.
However, what I didn't think to ask the sales associate is if it would work with the sim card I had from TMobile. And it didn't. So I had to return it. My bad. But it was just what I was looking for: 10" screen, basic, could handle video streaming, could do documents, and was extremely reasonably priced.
