Great laptop if it hadn’t broken in 6 days.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop ran pretty well, aside from some graphics stuttering in more demanding games. However after 6 days of having it the charging port stopped working altogether, and it can’t be repaired because it’s soldered directly onto the motherboard. If you want gaming power, you’re better off building a desktop for the same price.

Lenova laptop freezes up!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Lenova Yoga C740 and I had to call tech support because I couldn't turn it on!! How ridiculous! After it sits for awhile, it freezes and none of the typical "pokes" will wake it up. The only thing that works is holding the on/off button for 30 seconds. I don't know if this is a "feature" of the design but to me, it's a huge FAULT! I will be returning it.

Great budget laptop but poor headphone jack qualit
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop itself is good but the headphone jack quality is terrible there is some backlight bleed and the headphone jack is standard trrs which means it reads headphone mics but on this laptop it has a 1/30 chance to read the mic.

good bang for the buck, but experiencing freezing
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for a few days now. I am running into a freezing issue, all the times that it has happened I was either browsing the web or watching youtube videos on Chrome. The laptop will freeze for at least 5 seconds, before briefly flashing a screen with blue and purple pixels, and then showing a black screen for anywhere up to a minute. The first couple of times that it happened, the screen resumed as normal. However, the last time that I experienced this the entire laptop restarted itself which was very frustrating as I was working on a word doc that I didn't save. This is a deal-breaking issue that I may return the laptop for. I do not want to mess with the factory drivers or software to try to chase a fix for an issue that I may not be able to do on my own, especially if nobody else is experiencing this issue.

Defective as open.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product just arrived this morning. So I plugged in the charger and tried to turn on. Nothing happened. Not charging, not turning on. I tried all kinds of method from the internet. It seems like it's a common issue from acer laptop. But still this laptop just won't start. Eventually I had to go to the local best buy store and returned this. I really liked the spec of the model but if it is not turning on what can I do. I'm considering buying a same new one or looking for a safe brand.

We recommend checking the AC adapter connection to make sure the adapter is fully seated. Trying to cover the major points with a review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm going to try and cover the common questions, here. The ram included is an 8gb 3200mhz 22CS MTA8ATF1G64HZ-3G2J1 Micron stick. Micron is said to work very well in AMD systems, so I'd suggest the CT8G4SFS832A Crucial stick as it is essentially just a rebranded copy of that Micron stick. The motherboard does read the full 3200mhz, so if you cave and get a more common 2666, you will be slightly throttling yourself. The motherboard is a "Stonic_RNS"; I tried googling it, but all I got was that it's used by the Acer Swift model as well and I believe it may be a proprietary brand/design. The no-power issue some people seem to have is just the power plug needing to be securely clicked into the laptop before it charges, don't worry about these laptops being defective when considering a purchase. The bezels are thin enough, yet sturdy. The case is a mix of matte and textured plastic, though it feels sturdy and has absolutely no creaking. The hinges are thick, not loose and again, seem very sturdy. The buttons are good sized and well spaced, and the font and design is aesthetically pleasing to me (if the red backlight had G and B options, it would be better). The number pad is smallish, but not uncomfortable - and is at least usable as a WASD for us lefties. The button play I feel is normal for a mid-range laptop and I have no complaints. The backlighting is even and keys are easy to see in low light. The touchpad is also what I would consider normal for a mid-range; nothing special, but solid and responsive, if not a bit too much so. The screen could technically be called a corner that was cut to keep the price low, but it is bright and detailed enough for me and I'm not disappointed; I plan on some video editing in the future and I think it'd be ok for casual edits (and non-nitpicky gamers. Hey, we're budgetting here.). One thing I'll point out is the airflow is notably good in this machine. Go on youtube and look up some videos of this model; some reviewers do a stress test and clock the temps, and they seem to be right. Apparently, the previous years' models had a different fan/cooling system and this year they made a big improvement on heat spreading and venting. I'd still monitor temps when applicable, but I think it's now a plus of the model. The laptop came relatively well packaged, with dense foam corner wedges, a cloth bag, and with no play inside of it's box. Solid packaging to survive shipping. Performance testing is impressive. Using Skyrim as a base, I installed about 300 mods and a light ENB, and I was pulling 50-60 FPS with 8gb ram, and 55-60 FPS with 16gb ram. It honestly had better performance than an $800 budget gaming desktop I built in '16. It came stock with very little bloatware. There were some Acer performance and tweaking apps, a basic MS Office suite, Norton (a 30-day trial), and Netflix. Firefox came installed along with Edge, which was nice. Total unused space for me was an even 200GB, but YMMV depending on what you uninstall right out of the box. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I was lucky enough to catch this on an initial sale, but I think it'd be a smart purchase at MSRP or higher. A solid mid-range gaming laptop that will probably age well specs-wise, relative to its price-range competition.

Terrible Screen
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop kept freezing and having weird glitches but the main problem is the screen. It had several white areas on a black screen. The image quality is terrible. Uneven brightness. It is cheap but I would rather pay more and be happy. Needless to say, I returned it.
